I love almost everything about this guitar. I love the way it looks, feels and sounds. I did have some problems with mine though that would make me reconsider and go with a different, probably less expensive one with similar specs. The Floyd Rose tremolo bar is magnetic and does not screw on, the magnetic part stopped working after about a month so it just dangles there now. The other issue I have with this guitar is the connection to the amp wire seems a little hit and miss, like it's lose inside of the jack but it's probably just defective and not the model itself. I will probably get another Shecter guitar in the future because they play and sound amazing but probably will get a screw on tremolo next time.

I bought this as my first Floyd rose guitar. and so far has not disappointed the retro active pickups have beautiful tone. so much so that you would not know they were actives. the maple neck is smooth to the touch and very comfortable. the hot roded Floyd rose is what i wanted in a Floyd rose and more the stainless steel upgrades really make the difference when it comes to restring and staying in tune.

I have several guitars, including a US Strat, Tele, and Les Paul; I've been playing this one the most this summer. The neck gets 10/10: not super thin like an rg550, excellent jumbo frets and bird's eye figuring, super comfortable and light. The body is slightly thinner than a Strat. I just wish it had a different 3-way switch in a different location; I keep hitting it while strumming in the neck position and it moves to the middle. The switch is the only clunky thing on an otherwise very beautiful guitar. The pickups are unlike any humbuckers I've ever heard, they are not like EMG 81/85, Duncan JB, or Dimarzio PAF Pro. They are hybrid active /passive each with their own preamps. Best comparison would be a very hot Gibson 57 Classic. They are very sensitive to distance from the strings; once you find your sweet spot the lead tones are amazing. Super sustain without over saturation. Bridge pickup can sound like the opening riff to "Feel Your Love Tonite".

Been playing for over 25 years. Multiple bands. Multiple guitars bought and sold. I was about to pull the trigger on another brands guitar (think "the side panel of your car"), and I was looking at the specs. The fiddle from the other guitar company is black on black w active electronics and an endorsement guitar (you know who I'm talking about....). This Schecter checks all the boxes from that other guitar plus a Floyd Rose special which is fun for shredding. Mahogany body maple neck w a rosewood board. Flat finger board radius. Active pickups. I personally was very impressed with the new EMG pickups. They sound amazing. Very organic and fat but with the power and cutting ability you know EMG delivers. The fret work it great. The guitar looks great plays great. Amazing bang for the buck. And it's just flat out fun to play. You can't split the coils of course but this guitar is built for rock and metal so I personally didn't need or want coil splitting. I have a Charvel which is also very similar to this axe and I like this guitar as much as the Charvel for less money. This is really a no brainer. You won't be disappointed and I'm very picky and returned many guitars. Another reason to shop at Guitar Center. No muss or fuss for returns but this one ain't going back.

This thing is amazing. I have always wrestled with the question of what my favorite brand is. I have always loved Schecter, Charvel, Jackson, and of course, PRS. My workhorse has been a 2009 American Charvel So Cal. I picked one of these up in my local store and was shocked to see that it felt almost as good as my Charvel. And the price tag blew me away. I played 6 of them and haven't seen any flaw in craftsmanship. I personally can't stand active pickups, but it's pretty easy to throw in some Seymour Duncans. I'll be picking one of these up in the next few weeks and can't wait!
