Description

The updated Hellcat VI from Schecter Guitar Research is an inspiring game-changing tool for the adventurous musician, regardless of musical genre. The strings on the Hellcat VI are tuned like a guitar, but down to the same octave as a bass, empowering the player with sonic choices that aren’t possible on ordinary guitars or basses. The 30" scale-length bolt-on maple neck is reinforced with carbon fiber rods to provide unerring stability, and then topped with a silky-smooth 22-fret pau ferro fretboard.

The comfort-contoured swamp ash body provides classic good-looks and quick tonal response with a tightened low-end and crystalline high-end, to create a perfectly-balanced tonal foundation for the low-frequency voice of the instrument. A TonePros locking bridge system, GraphTech nut, and three Schecter US Custom Shop MonsterTone Stack pickups provide the robust, full sound of a humbucker in a single-coil format, with coil-split slider switches for each pickup, and a passive variable treble/bass cut control. Available in show-stopping ultrathin Ivory Pearl and 3-Tone Sunburst Pearl finishes.

    I couldn't be happier with the tone from the stock pickups I planned on changing them but through my Vox AC30 HW it sounds great. With these longer scale guitars I'm always worried about neck warpage. The two support rods inside the neck keep it super stable no issues so far.

    Beautiful tonalities for melodic and chordal work; love the stacked single-coils! Player's choice: play bass like a guitar player, or play guitar like a bassist. Nice neck, finished with care— very cool inlays, too (gold encircled, pearl dots).

    Probably the best bass VI on the market. Plays like a dream and tonal range is practically infinite. Sounds amazing through my Fender Super-Sonic 60. Gonna definitely gig with this bass.

    My third Schecter, and they did not disappoint. Manufacturing quality is on point, pickups sound great (although, not what I was expecting- these used to ship with mini humbuckers- this one came with stacked single coils; different sound, but not a problem). Setup was perfect. Finish was FAR cooler than anticipated- I was expecting like the Fender style gloss, but it's an open grain finish, flat, non glossy. Looks like someone cut the thing from a barn door, and brush painted it. I've never been a fan of the Jazzmaster tremolo Fender used on their version- this one comes with a tune-o-matic style, and it sustains for days as a result. Kind of a niche market instrument, but it does djent, for you prog-o-philes out there, and it does sound good clean. Could prolly even upgrade the pickups to hot rails, since they can be coil tapped (that's what the 3 slider switches do, btw...).

    could I put guitar strings on it and use it as a guitar

    I don't know that you're going to find guitar strings long enough. This is the size of a short scale bass.
