Rock-Solid Reliability

The Schecter C-1 Platinum pulls out all the stops in properly setting the stage for that sought-after tone. Performance Series tuners from TonePro adorn the headstock, ensuring high-precision, 20:1 gear-ratio tuning for the ultimate accuracy. Consistent with the blacked-out theme on this C-1 axe, they sport black a Graph Tech TUSQ XL nut and come set up from the factory with DR Black Beauty strings. DR designed Black Beauties for an extra-long life with their deceptively smooth-playing hard coating on all six strings. This is accomplished by coating the wrap wire before winding it around the core, giving them their openness and natural tonality and hand feel.

Huge value

Bought this guitar 6 month ago. After some time with it I must say it is amazing. I love this guitar. When buying, stock was limited so they shipped from a store location. It was packed beautifully and arrived without a scratch on it. A few things I could mention: - Guitar comes with 'black beauty' strings. The black coating flakes off. I'd recommend replacing those pretty quickly. No big deal. They do it for the looks I think. - EMG active pickups require a 9v battery. So if you throw the guitar aside for a bit and it stops working, check the battery. - the pickups take pedals well. Your eq adjustment will be a bit different when compared to passive pickups, but no issues with getting different tones. - excellent learning guitar (for setups too). I've had a number of guitars with floating bridges. They can be a bit intimidating to tweak if you don't know what you're doing. This tune o matic bridge is super easy to adjust and set up your guitar with. - Drop tunes great. I found 11s with heavy bottoms to be a good, tight fit for drop C. Switching back to standard is super easy with a new set of strings and quick adjustment. - Great budget guitar. Really comes with everything you could want at a very low price point. Prices have gone up but if you wait for a sale, they might hit $5 or so.

Not impressed, and I bought two!

Love the look, but the neck is a little thicker than my other Schecters, not as fast playing in my opinion. The coating will flake off the strings as others have mentioned, but what bugged me was the lack of bass compared to other guitars with EMG's. Usually EMG's sound the same in all guitars but I've had a few where EMG's just don't have that full sound, especially on the low E. I even bought another one of these guitars and that one still sounded a little weak (even with new batteries) and it was somehow a pound lighter than the first guitar! I would expect a mahogany body to be great for EMG's but they just didn't do it so I'll be swapping them for something else on this one.

    I have multiple guitars that are twice the price and this is still my go to guitar. It's comfortable, versatile, and can go heavy. Only thing that too a second to get used to was the bridge. Feels narrow but time playing fixes that feeling.

    The guitar was setup mostly good out of the box. I raised the pick ups a little and i can tell it will sound good with the right strings. About the strings.... they are absolutely garbage. Coating wore off on day 1 and they dont have that nice new ring to them.

    Purchased this guitar about a month ago, having only ever owned and played "cheaper" guitars by comparison the past 25 years. This plays incredibly, great sound, great fretboard and neck, the active EMG pickups are screamingly crisp. I got a crazy deal on it too by matching a competitor price AND getting military discount off that too.

    I am pretty impressed. I liked this guitar but waited for a sale to go ahead and get it. I really liked the blacked out look and liked the EMG pickups. I am a fan of US made guitars, and not that I was surprised, but just really impressed with how nice this guitar is built. This is my first Schecter and my first overseas made guitar in quite a while. Fit and finish are excellent. I was surprised about the setup. It was crazy good and it plays great. The only downside, the stock black strings. Great concept, and they look awesome brand new. But the black coating starts to come off right away. The two things I did was change the strings and condition the fretboard with Fret Doctor. That's it and I couldn't be happier with it. I have a JCM 2000 that is mostly "meh". But this is the first time I've ever played EMG's through it and it made it a different amp. I definitely recommend this guitar and if the other C1 Schecters are like this I can see myself getting another in the future. As for the reviews stating a used/floor demo guitar was sent….call to order and let them know it needs to be new from the warehouse shipped out of Lenexa, KS.

    1) This is a floor/display model. 2) There is no such thing. I have over a dozen instruments. My top pick is a hand build, made in Germany. My second is a Squier.
