This amp can do anything. Channel 1 has headroom for days on green mode. Yellow mode, less headroom. Red mode, almost no headroom. Channel 2 green is a slightly gritty clean. Yellow gives it a stroke of the blues tone. Red mode is ballsy blues, good amount of gain. Channel 3 yellow is IT for me. Great crunch tone, loads of gain that can be walked up to "chugga chugga." Channel 4 stays on red for me. It's the lead channel and it does chugga-chugga decently. I will say, if you're after the massive palm muted, drop tuned sound, go Mesa. This amp will do it, just not in spades like a Mesa. BUT literally every tone you could imagine and any level of gain you can imagine... It's there and it sounds so righteous. Tons of power. Classic Marshall tonaility. Features galore! Independent Reverb for each channel, four channels with three modes each, Master one and master two volumes, and options for blending your effects loop. It even has MIDI! Now for the downside. The low end knob is not great. It is thick. It is warm. But it is not massive. I leave it most of the way to 10 on all gain channels (without a boost). The mids are meh. 650Hz is just an awful frequency to focus the mids knob. I leave the mids at about 9:00-10:00 on every channel. The treble knob is awful. It adds a shrillness to the tone that is quite ice-picky to the ears. This knob stays between 9:00-10:00 on all channels. The resonance knob stays at 3:00, meaning this amp lacks in low end. Resonance knob = low end response of the power amp, for those that don't know. Presence knob stays at 9:00, meaning the treble on this amp is harsh. And, another downside, this amp is very heavy and very big. Quite cumbersome. But, that is to be expected with any nice tube amp, I suppose, so I won't let it detract from my opinion. Just know it's every bit as wide as your 412 cabinet and it's just as heavy. If you have back problems and can't afford a roadie-for-hire, look elsewhere! With my Les Paul, I like this amp a lot. With my American HSS Strat, I am head over heels innlove with this amp. It sounds absolutely phenomenal in every genre I have tried it. Again, doesnt have the low end chugga-chugga of a Dual Rec, but still sounds amazeballs. For real, if you're in a cover band or enjoy spanning a handful of genres, then this amp is a one-stop-shop for you. I love the way it sounds with my Strat. Country, blues, slow dance, punk, pop, funk, and hard rock... 10 out of 10. Djent and palm muting high gain, 7 out of 10. I plan to retube this head. It came with JJs, which I have always not liked for their low-end flubby tone. I will put Russian tubes in this thing and put a 10-band EQ before the amp and I guarantee this will be my daily driver. (I also own Mesa, Bogner and Friedman. Yes, I would put the tone up there with all my of them. I just really was unimpressed with the 3-band EQ on this amp, but it is still totally possible to dial in a sweet tone! Just go subtractive on the mids and treble).

In my personal opinion this Amp is overkill. I liked my DSL much better. But hey, to each his own.

Most awesome tones i have ever heard from an amp i owned!!!

The JVM410H is one killer amp. From pristine cleans to melt your face it covers it all. It is so virsitile with the programmable footswitch. And when they say easy to set up they are not kidding. It took me maybe 20 minutes to set the switching the way I wanted and maybe 45 minutes to decide witch pedals sounded better through the send/return and witch In the front. Being an all tube amp it has a warmth to it even with the bass section nearly off. I have both the AVT410H and C amps and there is no comparison. I've also owned and played through 100s of amps in my 50 years of searching for the lost chord and I may never find it but this amp has definitely gotten me a lot closer. Yes, it's spendy but well worth it.

This is everything you would want in a Marshall. Sad to say though that UPS dropped the amp somewhere in shipping and damaged it. I had to return it, so get the GC coverage for sure. I have another on the way.
