Features of the Traveler 102P

The Traveler 102P rear-ported bass speaker cabinet can be set horizontally or vertically, depending on the space allotment. It is an ideal speaker for a variety of venues, including clubs, festivals, bars or music theatre pit gigs. It thrives in an intimate setting like a small jazz combo, but can also hang on bigger stages as its volume potential is bigger than you might expect from a speaker cabinet this size. At a lightweight 33 pounds and space-saving 2'x10" design, just about anyone can easily transport the petite Traveler 102P.

Varied Playing Options for Compatible Markbass Speakers

On its own, the Traveler 102P bass cab resounds with a hearty punch and is deep but warmly balanced, in nature. Its articulation is sharpened in the upper register as its sustaining tones are truly a dominate wailing force. This bass was custom designed to perform in tandem with the Markbass Traveler 151P. The combined pair truly bumps up the low-end growl and boosts the higher-end harmonic capabilities of the Traveler 102P.

Pure Clear Power

I've had a MarkBass 121P for a while now and thought I could enhance it a bit more with this 102P cab. I was a wee bit off, it enhanced my rig a great deal. It's quiet until I hit a note, then BOOM! The 121P is rated at 300W until an external cab is plugged in. Then it opens up to 500W. I have a bass tuned C#-F#-B-E-A-D. Those low strings come through clearly through this setup. That alone makes the combo and cab worth their weight in platinum. Getting this cab was a great choice for me. Someone said he had some hiss from the tweeter. Mine does not. I get no sound I don't want, but when I want sound, I can get it in great abundance. One other thing, at 33 pounds, it's a relative featherweight that delivers tons of good, rich, clear sound. I highly recommend this speaker for those who want the power without the weight that usually goes with it.

Does not have B&C Speakers

Markbass stopped putting high quality B&C speakers in their amps and cabinets over 3 years ago yet GC still says they have them-they do not. I bought a Markbass amp a year ago and description said it had B&C speakers. Once I got it home it distorted and the speaker cone fully extended making the typical fart out sound coming from cheap speakers. I contacted the service center and they told me Markbass switched speaker vendors and they are not as good. The new speaker also has a yellow cone just like the B&C's so I expected a speaker just as good and got an amp with a terrible speaker. I contacted Markbass and even got a response from Marco himself but they would do nothing to replace the lousy new speaker that they are using in their cabs. If you buy this cab, make them promise it has B&C speakers.

    MarkBass Traveler 102P: I use this cabinet paired with a GK MB500 head. I love the sound that I am getting. Perfect in a stage setting where there is house sound, as well as situations where my rig is providing all the bass sound. I love that it supports if I dial in a full bottom sound on the amp, but it also sounds great in a boomy room if I roll back the lows. It feels super light, and doesn't take up much space. I love it, and am super happy that I made this purchase. Bought it when it was on sale; one of the best gear decisions I have ever made.

    Just gigged with this unit and it was plenty loud for stage sound. Light weight made it easy to tote.

    Quality is ok, yet dropping B&C speakers was a downer, I test drove it at home and compared with an older 102p (made in China, the speakers are cheaper) and I notice an small improvement on the sound, yet I powered it up with a matching SWR headlight 4ohms/400w and it started distorting at 70%, I own 2 cabs and 2 matching amps so if I need more power I can use both (which is rare), so the distortion doesn't really affects me.

    This speaker is just what I needed! Compact, light, and pumps out ridiculous sound with a loud, punchy tone. I've heard stories of people pairing this with other speakers, but this little beast has more than enough power for most indoor gigs on its own! Grab it on sale if you can!

    On the Piezo dial, witch way do you turn it for highs and lows?

    Counter clockwise turns the tweeter all the way down (off). Turning it clockwise turns the tweeter up.
