Description

The GV5 Gloxy Val MP 5-string electric bass is part of Markbass’ GV Series—their range of bass guitars that demonstrate their ability to produce a high-quality instrument at an incredible price. Playability, Comfort and Quality Assurance
The bass neck has the same characteristics as the Markbass JP series of
instruments—inherent playability and comfort. The balance of each string is accurate and defined, without any “boomy” resonant frequencies, even across the fifth string's range. Each instrument is inspected for quality against Markbass’ strict requirements at their headquarters in Italy. Gloxy series bass guitars receive the same standard of care and attention as their higher end instruments.

MB Instrument Pre
The Gloxy series is equipped with the same MB Instrument Pre that is featured on Markbass’ premium range of instruments. This onboard preamp is designed from the ground up by Markbass to faithfully reproduce the sound of your instrument. Changes in the volume level when switching from Active to Passive and back again are almost imperceptible—a unique feature of the exceptional circuitry inside. Simple and ergonomic controls allow you to richly boost or cut your EQ without clipping or distorting the signal—even at the maximum settings—allowing the MB Instrument Pre to work with you in any environment.

Gig Bag Included
All instruments in the Markbass GV Series come with the MB Bass Bag Universal to keep your new purchase safe. Like all Markbass products, this case is made to their precise quality standards, without compromise.

    This a solid and very good bass at a great price especially when on sale. I chose this model over Fender Player ii series, Sire and Sadowsky Metroexpress.

    My favorite (4 string) base is a MIJ Fender Aerodyne. I have been searching for a 5 string equivalent. The Markbass Gloxy GV5 has filled this role. I love everything about this bass! The neck feels amazing. Frets are smooth and even. Relatively light weight, well balanced, and has no neck dive. It is a very elegant instrument, and best of all it soumds AMAZING! I am totally satisfied. Great "bang for your buck"!

    Will be using this beautiful bass at my church. Picked this up yesterday at Guitar Center in Spartanburg, SC. The action and feel of this bass is great, straigjt off the rack! Price was reasonable and includes a very smart looking gig bag . Try one, you will be happy!!

    Went in to buy a Rumble 500 for an upcoming show. Figured I would find whatever 5 string was available and get close enough to the tone on my Ibby. This was closest (physically) and just felt simply effortless to play. I've always read about picking up an instrument that felt "just right" but had never experienced it myself until this Gloxy. Comfortable, easy, killer tone. Active electronics are top notch and passive switch truly has little noticeable volume or tone changes. Had to get past the made in China stigma but I couldn't get it out of my head so two weeks later I went back and brought it home. The included bag is also unexpectedly high quality. More like the transit soft cases than a simple gig bag, both are my new go tos for everything. Try it yourself. You have nothing to lose.

    I will echo other reviews in that I did not intend to buy this, I wanted a Jazz 5. Once I played it, I knew within minutes it was in my future! My main was a Geddy CIJ Jazz and this neck has that same feel.

    I'm floored by this bass. I've recently owned a Fender Ultra Jazz and I promise you if you forget the aspirational qualities of that bass, this is a better instrument( at least as good with less noise in the preamp than that bass had) No buzzing nut, perfect fret ends, extremely versatile preamp. I literally could not put this thing down, and it looks amazing. This might be the first headstock design I like better than Fender. I'm all MarkBass now, head, cabinet, and bass.

    Does it have the same color as the MB GV 4 Gloxy Val Cream CR MP? Their name is the same except the number of strings, but they look different on the picture.

    All basses vary depending on the density of the wood. Even the same model can vary up to 1.5 lbs Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Bass Guitars are generally between 8.00 and 10.00 lbs. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. This will be approximately 8.5 – 9.5 lbs.
