10-Bands of Boost/Cut Equalization

With 10-bands of equalization covering the frequency spectrum from 100Hz–10kHz, the M108S provides an unprecedented level of tone control in a compact stompbox. I couldint go without one, flawless

If you care about your tone whatsoever, you must have this pedal. It makes you realize how little a simple 3 knob design on amps does (bass, mid, treb). You need an EQ, period. You'll never play an amp without one after using it, it dramatically improves the sound. It can completely change any amp First the LEDs on this thing are BRIGHT. Really surprised me. Its also very well constructed. Even has a power supply included with plugs for lots of countries. The pedal uses a true bypass and it works flawlessly. No tone is affected when bypassing. I use a Peavey 6505 plus and play metal. The 6505 was seriously dissapointing me untill i got this pedal. The gain slider gives the amp some MUCH needed punch and power. I was also able to remove/tighten the amps sloppy low end and get rid of its annoying high end frequencies. I ended up turning the volume slider down just a little. My palm mutes... Oh boy, i can feel them like a punch in the chest now I would reccomend running the pedal through the effects loop for the best results. It also has two outputs. Very fun

Not the Sound I Wanted, Overly Bright LEDs

I have the mxr 7-band EQ in my studio, and it works great. I was looking for an EQ for my live setups, and wanted one with a master volume fader, so I gave the 10-band version a try. I was disappointed with the sound. The high end seemed a little harsh, and lacking in transparency. For the low frequency zone there was no fader at exactly 100 Hz--which is, in my opinion, a critical frequency. The led lights on the faders are blindingly bright. I could not read the frequency markings for the faders without turning off the EQ function. That's pretty inconvenient. You've got ten frequencies to control, plus gain and volume faders, and you can't see what you're doing when the unit is engaged. I don't know what the designers were thinking. For me, the bottom line is that this might be a workable unit for studio applications. You've got a lot of dynamic control over a lot of frequency bands, and maybe the unit sounds better with amps other than mine. But I think it would be a problem on stage, trying to find the right fader for a subtle adjustment when you can't see past the blinding blue lights.

    I bought this pedal and returned it after a few days. The major problem is that it does not sound musical. It is extremely difficult to dial in a moderately acceptable sound. The sound has a weird compression that made my rig sound awful. It sounds much worse than my ultra-chap Danelectro Fish and Chips. The Danelectro sounds good in any setting. The MXR sounds bad in any setting. Additionally, there is an audible noise for any setting off of zero. On top of the poor sound, this pedal is very large. If it sounded great, maybe there is a case for it being this big. I gave it two stars because it does seem well built.

    This pedal is incredible. It has seperate line level and gain control sliders plus the 10 Band EQ let's you custom craft your sound. It also lights up really well and can be seen in dark enviroments. Probably the best addition to my pedal board I've ever made. Runs on 18 Volt power.

    Is there a way to dump or turn off the lights? They are blindingly bright.

    Unfortunately, there is no built-in switch or function to turn off or dim the lights. Here are a few things you could consider: 1. Use Neutral Density (ND) Film or Light Diffusing Tape You can place a strip of ND gel (used in photography/lighting) or a bit of frosted tape over the LEDs to dim the brightness without blocking visibility. Brands like Lee Filters or Rosco offer ND gels. Custom Modding: If you're comfortable with electronics, you could mod the pedal by adding a switch to the LED power line — but this voids your warranty and requires soldering and circuit knowledge. Some DIYers add a small resistor inline to dim the LEDs instead of turning them off completely.

    Yes. Drop your lows and bring up some low mid-range. Boost your highs a bit

    Does the MXR 10 band EQ come with its own power supply? I bought this EQ but I don't remember if it had a power supply in the box when I got it. I started running it on a 9v power chain but then I saw it says use 18 volts. Seems to work but I guess it would be better with 18 volts.

    The power supply is included. You would need the Dunlop ECB004. You would be much better off with 18v.
