I went in to G.C. planning on trying out and maybe purchasing a MiM Standard stratocaster. Discovered a Player Series Strat and started comparing to a Classic Player 50s, Classic Players 60s, and a MiM Standard. I played them all through a Boss Katana 50. I preferred the sound of the Player Series (in ALL 5 pickup positions) over all of the others. The alnico 5 pickups really sound noticeably better than the older ceramic pickups- a little bit more bass and very articulate. A big plus in the Player Series is that the second tone control is now dedicated solely to the bridge pickup. This is an awesome upgrade imho because in older-model Strats, the bridge pickup can be a little too harsh (and older strats don't have any tone control I the bridge pickup). The first tone pot works the neck and middle pickups. I particularly like the neck on the Player Series. It's very similar to the neck on my 2017 MiM Telecaster, which I love. Go play one in person. You'll see what I'm talking about.. and you'll probably end up buying one.

It's o.k.

Been playing for almost 40 yrs. I've owned lots of Strats over the years from Squiers to U.S.A. Standards. I watched a bunch of youtube videos with people reviewing the new players series Strat and thought they looked good. I played a bunch of them at GC and took home the best one I could find. When I got it home I found it had lots of fret buzz. I made some adjustments and found a couple of uneven frets. Even after I brought it back for a set up it still buzzes. So I have to keep the action higher than I would like to ease the buzzing. The pickups aren't that great either. I've played it through a couple of different amps and really, they sound dull. I want to say that maybe I got a dud, but all the others I played at the store were worse than this one. I'm probably going to have to cough up the money for a fret leveling and better pickups to make this into a decent guitar.

    #sweepstakes Came out of the box intonated nicely, only had to tighten the truss rod 1/8 turn. Finish and electronics are great even the strings are decent yet after a couple months. The tuners haven't given me any trouble. Only thing is a bit of fret sprout which is most likely just from shipping through different climates and not bad enough to affect playability. -I only wish they would include at minimum, a gig bag.

    The guitar is great after I had to go swap it out at a local store the first one showed up with the strap button shoved into the body the packing material was lacking in the bottowm of the box but aside from that everything thing else was wrapped good

    A solid Strat that won't break the bank. Player series has tone knob for the bridge pickup. The only thing different from a USA built Strat is it lacks the grease bucket circuitry. But make no mistake this is a Fender Stratocaster. I have the buttercream color and it is beautiful but still a solid work horse. Player's going to play!

    I paid for a brand new guitar and when this arrived I was thoroughly disappointed. It was shipped from a store in Atlanta and looked as if it had been abused for some time. It had scratches front and back and the strings did not line up with the neck, the 6th string was almost off the fretboard. I do most of my own set-ups but returned it because it was above my capabilities to fix and I didn't think I should have to accept that kind of quality.

    Love these Player Series Stratocasters! Great tone and feel thanks to its alder body and maple neck. The single-coil pickups deliver a bright, crisp tone. The C-shaped neck profile and 9.5" fretboard radius give this Strat a comfortable, modern feel. Its C-shaped neck carves comfortably in the hand, enabling easy chord changes and lead runs. The flatter 9.5" fretboard radius facilitates string bending and makes this guitar instantly playable. Bought the Candy Red one and love the color!

    Buy this guitar. Throw away all the electronics and pickups and get yourself a DG20 EMG setup. They are already assembled and ready to insert screw in and ta da... You got yourself a Dave Gilmour's Red Strat replica and enjoy if you like Pink Floyd style music... If you do that you'll realize how this regular MIM guitar becomes to life and turn into a magical instrument. Try it, I bet you won't regret it!
