My First Telecaster

This is my first Telecaster. (I've had a Fender Strat for many years and last year I picked up a Squier J. Mascis Jazzmaster.) I thought about getting a less expensive Tele, but the reviews of the Player 2 were largely positive, and I tried a similar Tele at a store. The price was right, the color is really eye catching, and I decided this was the Tele to buy. The neck is smooth and straight, and the fret ends are fine. No dings, chips, scratches anywhere on it. All the parts are in place and tight; nothing loose, nothing sprouting, nothing buzzing. Tuned up easily right out of the box. It plays fine—smooth, easy to fret, and held the initial tuning well. I'm just going to have to get used to "that iconic tele sound" I hear about. (I love the sounds of my Strat and my JM.)

Absolutely no way would I buy this again!!!!!!!

I bought this guitar the day after black Friday at the Ocala store. Store was busy, I didn't look it over very close.That was my fault, but the bridge was adjusted all the way up. Guitar was way out of set up. No excuse for Fender shipping such a piece of crap, and shame on Guitar Center for not checking it out. The strings were corroded,so it was there for a while, and nobody caught it.Unbelieveable..I've purchased many guitars from you people, but this is my last.

    Here is how it came from the Fender factory: Truss rod was loose and had to be tightened to get neck from bowing up. Fret sprout was pretty bad and needed a lot of filing work. Frets were rough and needed a major polishing job. Bridge was Not adjusted for string height or intonation and needed work to get it adjusted properly. The nut was not cut well. The B and G strings has a weird Sitar sounding harmonic. The nut needed to be cleaned and filed a little more to make it sound OK.

    I gig twice a month in restaurants and bars and this is super upgrade to my clean sound. This guitars shimmers in the mix. Those Alnico V pickups are superb. The playability is very smooth. The dark green plays tricks in the lights.

    Everything about this tele is great except for the nut. Bending increases buzz which comes later on even if you don't bend on it. Otherwise, its a really good product. Color is beautiful

    I got a fender tele from my local guitar center. Funny thing is I originally went in to get a new amp and when they didnt have the one I wanted, I just decided to browse. I saw an amp and went to pick a guitar and then saw the tele. I immediately went to play it and wow that classic sound is what really sold me. It sold me so much I forgot to buy an amp.
