My son had researched guitars for months and narrowed it down to this one. Plays beautifully both pure acoustically and through an amplifier. The strat fingerboard and headstock makes it a visually interesting instrument.

This is an early Christmas gift for my son so he hasn't had a chance to use it yet but he used it he floor model in the store and fell in love. He said it sounds awesome! I can't wait for him to open it- it looks even better in person than online!

As an acoustic it's ok, a little flat but not terrible, but the pick ups are absolute garbage, stopped working after a month. Learn from my mistake and buy something other then this trash.

I bought one of these limited edition newporters about a month ago. Its a limited edition because it has no built in tuner. Giving a review because of #sweepstakes. I was a long time guitar and bass player but quit about ten years ago because of a freak accident that made my hand go numb while playing. But recently found out that it somehow healed so I ordered an acoustic to start fiddling around again. I've always had an acoustic around in the past but was always more of an electric player. One of the main reasons besides the price was I like my tuners all on one side and I never liked big acoustics with no cut away. Once received I thought this guitar sounded kind of dull, but after breaking it in a little bit, and building up hand strength, calluses and technique its sounding better every day. The build quality is pretty good, I haven't found any flaws except for a slight first fret problem on the high E string which a little bit of very light filing and sanding have fixed. Haven't even put new strings on it yet but has been staying in tune even when I beat on it. I bought a used blackrock core id 40 watt and have played it thru that a few times. Electronics all work fine. I don't think this could ever be used as a recording guitar but as a starter, open mic, small gig or practice guitar I think it would be fine. Im happy with it for the price paid. And I will add that most of my early playing was seated but I threw a strap on and have been playing a little bit upright and the balance is pretty good and I think easier to play that way which is good. My only other beef with this guitar is that I wish the neck was just a tad thinner. I have always been a telecaster guy and this neck reminds me more of a stratocaster..

I have always been a Fender guy and have never bought into that "All Fender acoustics suck" garbage. My newest addition to my Fender acoustic collection is no different. I already own a California Series Redondo Player that is a fine instrument I have had for about 5 yrs and a DG-22 Flamed Maple I bought new in 1998.My new California Series Newporter in Midnight Wine will fit in just fine. Beautiful fit and finish, high level of over craftsmanship and super comfy neck and smaller than full Dred body size make it a joy to operate. plugged in the tone is fantastic and even on straight acoustic mode the overall tone may be a bit bright for some but the guitar seems to have opened up some after a week out of the box and I find its current sound quite acceptable. Plus scoring it on sale for 120 bucks off didn't hurt either. Will it blow Martin"s and Taylors off the stage? No... but this a good inexpensive instrument...Get one.

The plug to connect the guitar to the speaker is very cool because its not noticeable. Plug in at the area where you place the strap. The sound and feel of the guitar is amazing.
