Description

The Fender Artist Series Jimmie Vaughan Tex-Mex Strat Electric Guitar reflects Vaughan's deep roots, traditional style, and preferred Strat features. This smoker comes armed with three Tex-Mex single-coils including an extra-hot bridge pickup, a special tinted maple V-shaped neck, vintage machine heads, original synchronized tremolo, and custom tone control wiring. Alder body, Schaller straplock-ready buttons, and medium-jumbo frets. Includes Fender deluxe gig bag.

Great value - very good guitar

The JV Strat is a fine guitar for anyone from a beginning guitarist to a regular working musician [and I've been both]. The tremelo could be improved [as with most 6-screw units], and the single-ply pickguard is a little warped [apparently a common problem for single-plys], but its a great-sounding, well-made guitar that's fun to play, especially if you're a fan of v-shaped, 9.5" radius necks. [Neck profile and fretboard radius are of varying importance to different people. If you don't know about those topics, get someone to show you the difference between a 7.25", 9.5", and 12" fretboard radius, and a v-, c- and u- shaped neck, about all of which you can get on a strat in this same price range. I bought mine earlier this year because I've been wanting a sunburst/maple strat that I could modify without too much regard for its future value, and I didn't want to spend too much on a guitar that was likely to get different pickups, pickguard, etc. Now that I've gotten it, however, I'm not sure that I'll change anything. I've blocked the tremelo, and may get a different pickguard some day, but the sound and playability are wonderful - actually better than my 1986/87 American Standard [that I don't plan to modify one bit]. This guitar isn't going to hold anyone back from being a great guitarist.

Its a No Go

The Jimmie Vaughan Strat fell short :( Looks Great! Feels Great! Sounds Great!......except it will not stay in tune!!! After receiving it I researched it a little more and found a few other folks complaining about the same issue. If im going to spend more money to fix the tuning issues , I might as well just slam down a couple more hundred dollars for a Standard American Strat.

    This guitar sounds plays and looks awesome, you can feel the quality as soon as you pick it up. The Tex -Mex pick ups and the way this is wired just nails that Texas Blues tone , that creamy white is so nice even if you not s good player this guitar will make you sound great , I love this guitar

    I've been playing guitar for 30 years, and have owned dozens of guitars over the years, but, never owned a real Fender Stratocaster. I tried a lot of Strats in my search, and to me, the Jimmy Vaughan signature has a great vintage feel and tone...I love it!!!

    I've had my Strat now for a month and I'm extremely pleased with my purchase. I ordered it thru my local GC and they were both quick and helpful thru the process. I found it was ready out of the box with no additional setting up. It has that wonderful bluesy/jazz sound I've been looking for without any additional purchases or changes. On playing blues I give it 5 stars. Classic rock 4.5 stars and on heavier rock and alternate Drop tuning maybe 3.5 stars. I'm not disappointed on that aspect because I bought it to play blues and it's awesome. The pick guard was a little warped but I was going to change it out anyways with a black pearl pick guard that makes the guitar look absolutely gorgeous! The color (black) is beautiful and I can't help but wipe it out down when I'm done playing it and just admiring the look. The guitar feels great, it's reasonably light, and the neck feels quick. I've played other more expensive Strats without having that blues sound I've been looking for but the tone I'm loving must be from the TexMex pickups. Save some money and check this one out.

    Got this guitar about a year ago now and has been my number one ever sense. I love the open middle pickup. It gives a great rock sound and works really well with distortion. Mine is the candy apple red finish, and its perfect. The neck plays like butter as well. My only complaint is the single ply pick guard. It warped(a common problem) and now sticks up about a half inch on one side. Thats no biggie though as i can always buy a new 8 ply guard.

    All guitars vary depending on the density of the wood. Manufacturers usually only spec size and type of wood. Guitars are generally between 6 and 12 lbs. They can be more. The only way to know the weight of an individual instrument is to weigh it. I'm sorry but I don't have one to weigh. This will be approximately 7.5 – 9.0 lbs
