Combining classic Tele lines with a selection of stunning finishes, the American Performer Telecaster HS steps right out under the spotlight. In this version with a choice vintage white or sunburst on maple fretboards, it's a real standout. The '70s-era silver logo on the headstock adds a distinct touch of additional style. The neck features a comfortable 9.5" fingerboard radius and 22 jumbo frets for easy playing and accurate fretting.

Best of two worlds

The American Performer Tele HS features Fender's ClassicGear tuning machines and a traditional 3-barrel brass-saddle "ashtray" bridge for classic Tele twang and snap that goes hand-in-hand with its great looks. Teles have always been known for their tuning stability, and these new tuners move that to an even higher level.

Wired to rock

Freshly designed Yosemite pickups, crafted specially for the American Performer series, in combination with Fender's "Greasebucket" tone circuit, add a new bite to the tone. With a powerful neck DoubleTap humbucker that features patent-pending coil-tap technology on a push/pull pot, and a hot-rodded Tele bridge pickup, it's voiced to deliver the iconic Tele tones with the volume rolled back, then can get seriously nasty, in a good way, when you open it up. The unique Greasebucket circuit enables you to roll off treble without getting muddy, for a mellow tone that will still cut through without getting lost.

SWEETNESS IN VINTAGE WHITE

I really like this guitar. I have other telecasters as well as strats and this one is a keeper for me. The pickups work well and have the tone you look for in a tele, but enough difference to make it exciting. I get tones that I dont get from my other telecaster. I like the fact you can split the humbucker and get classic tele tone but I bought it for the humbucker. Its warm and has alot to offer. it has a different sound to me than if it was in the bridge and is why I like it in the neck position. I do play all my guitars thru Marshall amps so typically its sound is not as bright as if i played it thru a fender twin. Works well for me but at lower volumes gets a bit muddy . I have had fender amps in the past and liked them but I cant shake the sounds I get from this guitar , a tube streamer ,a decent reverb and chorus pedal. I have had a fender special in a stat before and it just didnt do anything for me but this telecaster is a high quality instrument and plays so easy, seams to call out to me and my other guitars sit patiently awaiting a turn that doesnt come as often as before. If you like telecasters you will like the versatility of this guitar. Try one, it may just follow you home as well.

No longer "affordable"

I purchased the HS AMERICAN Telecaster performer over a year 1/2 ago for under $1k. But I returned it since it had major fret sprout; it had dings in the body; and fret buzz. Too much work for a new American fender tele. So I saved up for the American tele professional 2. Which, at that time, cost less than the current (7/2022) tele performer. The "affordable" should be removed from the description of the performer. Even the MIM fenders are getting very expensive. I like fenders. But no longer affordable. My last new guitar was the schecter PT w/ p90 at the neck with push/push. 1/2 the cost of fender performer. I am also putting my purchases on hold. Inflation is too high. Wait for demand to calm down and production to catch up.

    Not as slick as a Les Paul or even a Strat but I love Teles and keep coming back to them. It's good as delivered but a setup will make it better.

    Versatile sound and playing comfort. The neck feels great. The rosewood is something you can dig into. The hardware and electronics seem tops. I enjoy having a humbucker/single coil to split. The humbucker is not too hot/ single coil just right. The bridge has bright crunchy tone.

    I love this lively guitar and seem to be able to make most of the solid body sounds I want. Great middle position rhythm sound. Blues sounds I love on the neck humbucker. Great jazz tones on the neck PU also, made better by the great tone circuit this thing has (no useless underwater mud on that dial). Aggressive rock and country jangle out of the bridge pickup. The guitar was also in perfect, highly playable condition when I got it which isn't always true in mail order situations. Very stable tuners. I used to think I hated telecasters but this thing has won me over. Still wouldn't get one with a single coil neck pickup though.

    Love the feel of the Tele. The neck is extremely comfortable to play. I'm mostly a rhythm guitarist but it's equally easy to noodle around on. The humbucker in the neck sounds great thru my Fender Princeton. I did have to adjust the set up to remove some fret buzz on the low e string but it took 2 minutes and a screwdriver.
