Description

The EHX Ram's Head Big Muff Pi distortion/sustainer effects pedal is a faithful reproduction of the highly coveted 1973 Violet Ram’s Head Big Muff heard on countless classic recordings and famous guitar solos. It delivers the unmistakable, articulate string separation and exceptional sustain that’s made the V2 Big Muff so sought after. Now it's available with a few choice updates for convenience including true-bypass switching, an LED to indicate effect status and the option of being powered by a 9-volt AC adapter.

    How odd. This review was flagged for writing Big Mu** using the two F's :) For the money, this is a really hard pedal to beat. It goes from mild and laid-back to wild and intense. The controls feel great...like as in excellent quality. This is a reissue of the original Big Mu** PI. I tried a Big Mu** PI with Wicker and forget about it. It hissed so loud in Wicker mode that I couldn't even here myself think and it got even worse with the tone switch off. And even in the so-called Big Mu** PI mode, it didn't sound anywhere near as good as this Rams Head does. And, the Rams Head is quiet compared to the BM PI with Wicker. One more thing, The BM PI with Wicker does not say anywhere on it nor in the included paperwork where it's made, whereas the RH BM PI clearly says New York City on the face of it...

    This is the best sounding fuzz pedal that I've ever heard. I first discovered fuzz through a Pro Co Rat 2, and then I tried the Boss FZ5. Both were great, but I wanted a little more, so I tried the EHX Nano, and I hated it. It seemed to be over-the-top and unarticulated. I couldn't get any of my playing to shine through the thick coat of fuzz. I started watching comparison videos, and found that the Triangle and the Ram's Head were the best sounding of the bunch, and I particularly liked the sound the Ram's Head. I was not let down. This thing fuzzes and sustains, while also keeping your playing style alive. I love it so much, I'm tempted to try out the Triangle as well.

    Great fuzz/muffish that is super super super close to the original. The circuits are newer so the sound is more consistent than the older version. For the price and quality of the build, you can't beat it.

    I don't write reviews easily. This is a tad louder than the green russian model (which i love to death, even more than this) and has a little more top-end and noise, but when you add a compressor before it, this sounds absolutely the wall!
