Description

The Alesis SamplePad 4 is an all-in-one percussion and sample-playing instrument. It comes equipped with four responsive, LED-illuminated rubber pads, dual zone trigger input, and eight preset kits. With a built-in library of the most commonly requested percussion and electronic drum sounds and the ability to load samples and loops, the only limit is your imagination. For even more flexibility, you can tune and add reverb to your sounds.

Intuitive navigation makes it easy to browse through your kits and you can drag and drop your samples via USB on a Mac or PC without removing your SD card. The bright blue LED lighting is clearly visible in every setting.

Great Sample Pad!

This SamplePad was a fathers day gift to me and what a great one!! I had no problem using the utility and files from Alesis to do what it says it will do. I even made some custom samples from my own drum kit using an app and loaded them with ease! The LED lit pads are very cool too and useful!

Mixed Bag

I play keys and electronic drums in loops and jammed this thing all last year, sometimes with some serious intentions, live in concert. It holds up from the beating, and my custom samples sound stellar through the mix. It does occasionally trigger 2 pads of sound when I only hit one REALLY hard. LOL. I hear a buzz some nights, and I can usually attack it by plugging in my mixer into the same outlet, at least helps the buzz sometimes. Many nights it is crystal clear, and in my studio as I write this, it is hooked up and silent, no buzz. It is small and bounces around a lot, and I am moving to a heavier duty setup live. Mixed feelings as I can certainly see some pro's having a beef with the machine, but I have had loads of great gigs with it. ~ If my friend's intentions were to have a sample pad, and not a drum... then yes I would recommend it. It handles the stickings with no lag and drums well, but there are so many better options in the market for people jamming the thing for hours.

    It hums! First and critical fail. Then due to its compact size and design, you can easily hit the buttons while hitting the pad on the right whereby changing the sound bank. Happened in rehearsal, at the live show, no matter how I angled it, bad flaw. Lastly, it shuts itself off after 30 minutes or so, what the heck? Total trash.

    Excellent little pad. A bit of a learning curve but not bad. Works flawlessly with my samples. Super price. If you need a small pad. This is it.

    This thing is a piece of garbage, could not upload any of my samples after hours of trying everything and following instructions carefully. I couldn't even get the thing to add "KIT 11" to make my own sample channel. Every time I put the SD card in, the pad would freeze and I would have to unplug it and replug it back in to restart it. The pad would not even read the files on the SD card even after converting them from Alesis sample converter. It shouldn't be that hard to upload your own samples. This would be the perfect product if it was easy to upload samples, but because It wouldnt upload anything, this thing lost my business and I'm returning it. It's no wonder everyone buys the Roland SPD pad, It should be as simple as dragging and dropping.

    When using sounds loaded into the unit factory or your own you will need to use the Headphone output because of the horrible hum in the mains. When you plug in the USB the Headphone output hums. So it can be use 1 of 2 ways as a MIDI controler or as a sample player, factory or otherwise using the headphone output. I had 2 brand new units that were exactly the same. If your serious about your art gotta stay away... The sample feature works but loading samples is painfully slow for year 2021..maybe 1987...once loaded they will blend in a mix ok I feel. It's a shame this unit doesn't work cause it's perfect size to add to a drum set, and how handy to be able to load custom samples and pay MIDI sound from my iPad. But better stay away. Also the KAT KTMP1 is a non starter, it can't store a single kit and you loose your settings everytime it auto powers off...

    So I know you can add your own loops to this, is there any reason the length of a loop would be cut short? Or is that strictly measured by the size of your SD card? For example, if I used this for a melodic intro to a song that was 20-35 seconds or even a minute, would that be an issue? Also is there any way to program an on/off toggle for said loop like the new roland single pads?

    Hi Thanks fore your time. The loop will be based on the size of your SD card. You will not have a problem with a 1 minute loop. I am sorry but Alesis are not stating if it has a on/off toggle for the loop function. Thank you
