Description

The Yamaha DX7 is the most consequential and best-selling digital synthesizer in music history. Released in 1983, it single-handedly shifted the industry away from warm analog synths to the crisp, glassy, and percussive sounds that defined the 1980s pop, new wave, and R&B landscape. Powered by revolutionary Frequency Modulation (FM) synthesis, it can be heard on massive hits from artists like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, A-ha, and Phil Collins.
