Description
This 1977 Gibson MK-72 in Natural is a fascinating and highly innovative piece of acoustic guitar history. Part of Gibson’s short-lived Mark Series, this model was born from a radical collaboration between luthiers and a physics professor to completely reinvent the acoustic guitar. It features a solid spruce top paired with premium rosewood back and sides, delivering a remarkably balanced tone with rich lows and articulate highs. The defining characteristics of this rare bird include an asymmetrical rosewood bridge, a proprietary modified fan-bracing pattern designed to maximize vibration transfer, and a unique three-piece ebony/rosewood striped fingerboard. With its unique body shape, narrower 10-inch waist, and eye-catching faux-wood soundhole ring, this MK-72 stands out visually and sonically as a truly distinct vintage instrument for collectors and players alike.
