Description
The 414ce V-Class Limited-Edition Sinker Redwood Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar is a spectacular instrument with custom elements artfully incorporated by Andy Powers, Taylor's Master Guitar Designer. The gorgeous combination of tonewoods was hand-selected to display the natural beauty and unique variegations that are found in nature. Each piece of stripy sinker redwood has unique physical characteristics and tone, making every instrument individual. To compliment the rich tone of stripy sinker redwood, the body is fashioned of East Indian rosewood to create a full-range acoustic voice. The fingerboard and headplate are made of colorful West African ebony. A custom Imperial inlay pattern was created by Andy Powers to round out the prestation, making this Limited-Edition a piece of art. Powered by Powers' V-Class, with the cutting-edge Taylor ES2 Expression system, this 414ce Limited Edition is an instrument that looks as amazing as it sounds. The 414ce V-Class Limited-Edition Sinker Redwood Grand Auditorium acoustic-electric guitar ships in a deluxe Taylor hardshell case.
Body Shape
A Taylor original, the popular Grand Auditorium body style makes for a versatile guitar. It yields ample volume in response to light fingerpicking, and reacts to medium strumming and flatpicking with a clear, balanced sound across the tonal spectrum. For players seeking a great all-purpose guitar, the GA is an excellent choice.
Tonewoods
Stripy sinker redwood is less dense than spruce, and as a result, it produces a warm, played-in sound. Its midrange bloom adds a nice complexity to the guitar's tone, and it responds really well to a lighter picking/strumming attack. Rosewood produces the strongest bass response among the tonewoods commonly used for guitars, with a slightly scooped midrange. Rosewood's sweeping frequency range - deep lows that assert a throaty growl with sparkling highs - rings out with bell-like, high-fidelity clarity. It yields a full-range acoustic voice with complex overtones and extended sustain. Paired together, sinker redwood and rosewood deliver exceptionally pleasing tones.
Electronics
Taylor's ES2 is a revolutionary pickup design that delivers the latest in Taylor’s acoustic guitar amplification. The heart of the Expression System 2 is Taylor’s patented behind-the-saddle pickup, which features three uniquely positioned and individually calibrated pickup sensors. Because the pickup doesn't sit under the saddle, the bottom of the saddle comes in full contact with the bridge, allowing all the natural characteristics of the guitar's tone to come through clearly and evenly, whether your playing acoustically or amplifying the sound of the guitar. The position of the sensors enables a more dynamic range of acoustic sound to be captured when plugged-in.
Combined with Taylor’s custom-designed “professional audio”-grade preamp, this system produces exceptional amplified tone and responsiveness. Whether you plug into a PA, your favorite acoustic amplifier, or direct into recording software, the Expression System 2 faithfully conveys the voice of your Taylor guitar. If you want to adjust your sound, you can color it with easy-to-use volume, and active bass and treble controls. The Taylor Expression System 2 is powered by a proprietary 9-volt battery compartment.
