I was looking to replace my old Crate amp, and came across this lovely unit. Saw reviews on other sites about the power and oomph of this amp, so I decided to give it a try. And I was very impressed. A few days after I bought it, my band played a Battle of the Bands at Peabody's in Cleveland, and it gave plenty of sound. If you're at a venue with a nice sound system that you can play through, you don't need a huge amp(for my type of music anyway). But if the venue is small enough that it doesn't have the big system, this amp is actually more than enough. I only turned it up to about 5, and it was plenty loud. One of our vocalists actually told me to turn down a little during sound check. I actually feel like it may have been able to be louder than the house system if I wanted to turn it all the way up. And sound only slightly distorted at max volume. Features are great as well. Tuner with a mute button so you can do a quick tweak during the set. Nice punch and other buttons to play with. Highly recommended.

I was hoping the bad reviews were wrong and it was a good amp at a good price but it is not. At least not the one I received. At a little less than half volume the front grill vibrates badly and the whole thing buzzes and sounds terrible. I tried to tighten all the screws on the front grill but it did not help. I also notice 4 screws down the left side only 3 down the right, seems like one is missing. I do not think one more screw would prevent the whole thing from vibrating badly at volume. I will be returning it to store at end of the week when I have time.
I really wanted it not to suck but it does, oh well

Good but not great

By Dennis Brown

from Lexington

Comments about Peavey Max 115 II 1x15 300W Bass Combo Amp:

Bought to use as a practice amp and for small gigs. Clear your mind of "300 watts", however, as the volume is closer to 100-150 watts RMS. Still, for the money, it is a handy light duty amp that has better than average tone, a decent (but not great) tuner, and enough buttons and knobs to make some quality low to mid level noise. 50 pounds makes for easy carrying. As long as your expectations are realistic, it is a good value. Tested using a Warwick Rock Bass Corvette 5, active.

Stange eq but great amp.

By richard

Comments about Peavey Max 115 II 1x15 300W Bass Combo Amp:

I found a used one at the Guitar Center close to my house. This amp is very loud so I don't even think of whether the power rating is right or not. I can easily keep up with a drummer with the input volume on 5 and the overall volume on 3! The flat eq sound of this amp is all mids. It even sounded that way in a Peavey YouTube video I heard. Sounds awful. I don't know what Peavey was thinking. For me, I have to make sure the "Punch" button is engaged for low end, "Mid Shift" is off and "Psycho acoustic" button is off and "Bright" button engaged. That way I can get a nice round sound with some mid punch that I like. I still have to run the bass knob at about 3/4. Once you get it to sound like a bass amp, it kills! I didn't think the built in tuner worked at first because for years I was used to using harmonics to tune on my external tuners. I quickly figured out to use open strings and it works well. That's a couple less cords to have to hookup and a tuner that I don't have to carry. It's a little on the heavy side compared to a few similar 1X15 combos. I was surprised by this amp once I sorted out the eq.

Comments about Peavey Max 115 II 1x15 300W Bass Combo Amp:

67 years old been playing for 1 year. Replacing my Fender Rumble 15 Watt amp. This needless to say blows away my old amp. My 24 year old Grandson said it sounded awesome from outside. Chromatic tuner a nice feature. Lite weight 51 pounds.

Reliable, affordable and has great tone. Only reason it got 4 stars, advertised as 4ohms when purchased when first released. The box even said 4ohms in huge print. Still, I kept it cuz it suited my purpose and has been a great amp!

Comments about Peavey Max 115 II 1x15 300W Bass Combo Amp:

I just bought this Amp took it to church, and the tone is awesome. It has a very clear bass tone that is more than I expected. For the money plus not only is it a great Amp. I would recommend this Amp to use. It has a lot of opinion that you would not expect, bass tuner, bass boost, as well as a way to connect to a sound board. It works Great alone without a sound board.

Only goes up to 5 and the DDT cuts the amp out. If your a bass player and you want a decent mid class amp, buy an Ampeg. I got the BA210 and I couldn't be happier.

The apm is loud without distorting. Modeling tone is simple but effective. I would purchase this amp again in a heart beat. From warm round tones to distinguish mids and highs. This amp rocks!

I love this amp....sounds very good and full. I have a 25 watt Crate amp for small room practice and a JBL 500 watt for outdoor venues 18" speaker. The JBL is a lot for indoor use. this peavey with 15" speaker fits the bill for big Bass sound in an indoor large room venue....It is just what I needed... I love it !!!

Comments about Peavey Max 115 II 1x15 300W Bass Combo Amp:

Very affordable combo with a sound that packs a punch. Very happy with this amp. It is relatively lightweight which makes it very mobile for a 250 watt. It does come with a built in tuner. However I found the tuner to be slightly misleading while tuning sometimes. But most of the time it works great. Very happy with it and is perfect for beginners and people who just wanna play on the side. I have heard friends that use this amp at gigs and it sounds great.

Comments about Peavey Max 115 II 1x15 300W Bass Combo Amp:

I bought a used one of these a couple of years ago but bought a new one a few days ago. I thought a GK 115 combo was going to be the one I stuck with but I realized a clarity was missing. The horn on the GK sounded like plastic so I thought I'd try a new Peavey. In the under $500 price range, this is the sound I've been looking for. It has a horn that doesn't sound like plastic. One reviewer said that around 5 on the volume knob the DDT circuit kicks in and knocks the volume down. I thought how loud do you want to play with a combo? If I ever have to play that loud I'll use my head and cab setup. This is for our quieter gigs and it's still almost too much. Very happy with this purchase, this time around.
