Description
Golden-age Gretsch tone meets show-stopping quilted maple in the G6136TGQM-59 Limited-Edition Quilt Classic Falcon, a refined take on the iconic hollowbody pairing '59-inspired construction with TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity pickups and an expressive Bigsby vibrato. Its 2.75"-deep body features highly figured laminated quilted maple throughout, supported by 1959 trestle bracing for a resonant yet focused hollowbody response. A Standard U maple neck and ebony fingerboard provide a substantial, smooth-playing foundation, while Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity pickups recreate the original Filter'Tron design with an open, dynamic response, tight lows and sparkling highs. A luminous Forge Glow nitrocellulose lacquer finish highlights the dramatic quilted maple, joined by gleaming gold hardware, a Space Control bridge and signature Falcon appointments. An included deluxe hardshell case completes a limited-edition Professional Collection instrument that brings exceptional visual presence to a deeply expressive Gretsch hollowbody.
Quilted Maple and 1959 Trestle Bracing Shape a Classic Falcon Voice
The G6136TGQM-59 Limited-Edition Quilt Classic Falcon builds its resonant hollowbody voice around a substantial 2.75"-deep body with an arched laminated quilted maple top, back and sides. The maple construction provides an articulate tonal foundation with clear attack and definition, while its highly figured quilt pattern gives every surface a dramatic visual character beneath the Forge Glow finish. Inside, period-inspired 1959 trestle bracing reinforces the body while helping focus and control its hollowbody resonance for amplified playing. Together, the full-depth maple construction and trestle-braced architecture give the Quilt Classic Falcon the lively acoustic character and focused response at the heart of its late-'50s-inspired design.
Standard U Maple Neck With a Smooth Ebony Fingerboard
A set maple neck carved to Gretsch's Standard U profile gives the Quilt Classic Falcon a comfortably substantial foundation beneath the fretting hand. The 25.5" scale provides a firm, responsive string feel, while the ebony fingerboard pairs a 12" radius with 22 medium-jumbo frets for smooth chord work, expressive bends and precise lead playing. Mother-of-pearl Neo-Classic thumbnail inlays provide unmistakable Gretsch style against the dark ebony surface, while a bone nut creates a hard, consistent contact point at the headstock end of the strings. Finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer to match the body, the neck combines vintage-inspired feel and appointments with polished Professional Collection execution.
Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Pickups Recreate the Original Filter'Tron
The TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity pickups connect the Quilt Classic Falcon directly to the origins of the Filter'Tron, recreating Ray Butts' pioneering hum-canceling design from the late 1950s using his original notes and specifications alongside TV Jones' extensive study of vintage examples. Period-inspired construction includes vintage pole spacing and unpotted coils, preserving the open, dynamic character of the originals rather than applying modern wax saturation. Their relatively low output produces a clear, three-dimensional response with tight bass, sparkling highs and exceptional sensitivity to playing dynamics. Individual Volume controls allow each pickup to be balanced independently, while a separate Master Volume provides immediate control over overall output. A three-way pickup toggle and three-position Tone switch complete a flexible layout rooted firmly in classic Gretsch design.
Forge Glow, Gold Hardware and a Bigsby Vibrato Define the Limited Edition
The Quilt Classic Falcon surrounds its highly figured maple construction with appointments designed to make the limited-edition Forge Glow finish shine. A Bigsby B6GVT vibrato tailpiece provides smooth, expressive pitch control, paired with a Space Control bridge on a pinned ebony base for a stable, adjustable string platform. Grover Imperial tuners provide precise tuning at the headstock, while gold hardware extends across the guitar for a richly coordinated presentation. Jeweled G-Arrow control knobs and a gold Plexi pickguard with the Gretsch logo and Falcon graphic add signature detail, completing a bold visual treatment that complements the natural depth and movement of the quilted maple beneath the gloss nitrocellulose lacquer.
A Limited-Edition Expression of an Iconic Gretsch Hollowbody
The Falcon has long represented one of the most visually striking expressions of Gretsch hollowbody design, combining commanding proportions, ornate appointments and an unmistakable musical identity. The Gretsch G6136TGQM-59 draws deeply from that late-'50s heritage, combining 1959 trestle bracing with Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity pickups rooted in the original Filter'Tron design, while highly figured quilted maple and a luminous Forge Glow finish give this instrument a character all its own. A classic Bigsby vibrato, smooth ebony fingerboard and gleaming gold appointments complete a Professional Collection specification that balances period-inspired detail with expressive playability. Bold yet deeply connected to Gretsch history, the Quilt Classic Falcon gives one of the brand's most celebrated hollowbodies a singular limited-edition presence.
