Gretsch Guitars

Description

Gretsch drum heritage sits right on the surface of the G6134T-58 Penguin electric guitar. Built in Japan as part of the Professional Collection, this distinctive limited-edition Penguin pairs a chambered mahogany body with an arched laminated maple top dressed in Light Blue Pearl drum-wrap material, creating a direct visual connection to another side of Gretsch history. A pair of TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity pickups provides the foundation for its vintage-inspired electronics, while a pinned Space Control bridge and String-Thru Bigsby B3CP tailpiece support expressive performance. Grover Imperial tuners, an ebony fingerboard and Luminlay side dots round out a player-focused design that combines Japanese craftsmanship, classic Gretsch appointments and drum-inspired style.

Drum-Wrap Finish With Distinctive Penguin Style

The defining detail is the finish. Rather than relying on a conventional painted or stained top, the G6134T-58 uses drum-wrap material over its arched laminated maple top, giving the Light Blue Pearl finish a direct connection to Gretsch drum heritage. Against the Penguin body shape, silver plexi pickguard with Penguin graphic, silver sparkle binding and jeweled G-Arrow control knobs, the drum-inspired treatment gives this guitar a distinctive visual identity. It is an unusual meeting point between two sides of Gretsch history, applied to an instrument designed to be played rather than simply displayed.

TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity Pickups

A pair of TV Jones Ray Butts Ful-Fidelity pickups equips this Penguin with a vintage-inspired Filter'Tron configuration. The control layout provides individual neck and bridge pickup volume controls alongside a master volume, giving players independent level control before the final output stage. A 3-position pickup toggle selects the bridge pickup, both pickups or the neck pickup, while a separate 3-position tone switch provides additional tonal control. Together, the dual-pickup configuration and familiar Gretsch control scheme provide multiple ways to shape the guitar's response for stage and studio use.

Chambered Mahogany Body and Arched Maple Top

The G6134T-58 Penguin combines a chambered mahogany body with an arched laminated maple top and set mahogany neck. Its 24.6" scale length is paired with a 12" radius ebony fingerboard, 22 medium-jumbo frets and a 1.6875" bone nut for a traditional Gretsch playing platform. Mother-of-pearl Neo-Classic position inlays carry the classic aesthetic across the fingerboard, while Luminlay side dots provide added visibility on dark stages. The result is a distinctly appointed Penguin built around a player-focused combination of established Gretsch design elements and practical performance details.

String-Thru Bigsby and Stage-Ready Hardware

The Bigsby B3CP String-Thru tailpiece provides the vibrato system central to this Penguin's design while simplifying restringing compared with traditional Bigsby pin-style systems. A Space Control bridge with pinned mounting helps maintain its position, while Grover Imperial tuning machines and a bone nut complete the core hardware setup. Chrome hardware complements the Light Blue Pearl finish and silver appointments, and Luminlay side dots provide another practical touch for players working on darker stages. Together, these details reinforce an instrument designed around both distinctive Gretsch aesthetics and regular performance use.

A Player's Penguin With a Distinctive Story

The G6134T-58 Penguin brings together Japanese construction, chambered mahogany and maple body design, TV Jones pickups and a genuine drum-inspired visual concept. Its Light Blue Pearl drum-wrap treatment gives the guitar an immediate connection to Gretsch drum heritage, while the String-Thru Bigsby, Space Control bridge and stage-visible Luminlay side dots keep the emphasis firmly on performance. For guitarists drawn to vintage Gretsch character and an instrument that stands apart visually, the limited-edition G6134T-58 Penguin combines a distinctive story with a player-focused feature set.
