Deering Scott Avett Signature Truth 5-String Resonator Banjo

Description
The Deering Scott Avett Signature Truth resonator banjo blends warm, expressive tone with handcrafted artistry in an instrument that reflects the creative perspective of one of the leading voices in the modern Americana movement. Designed in collaboration with Scott Avett, co-founder of The Avett Brothers, this signature banjo is built around a Hartford grenadillo tone ring, three-ply violin-grade maple rim and poplar/walnut resonator that deliver rich tonal depth, articulate projection and a balanced, responsive voice equally suited for driving rhythm work and melodic passages. A quartersawn English walnut neck, ebony fingerboard and hand-rubbed satin finish provide a smooth, natural playing feel, while custom inlays designed by Scott give the instrument a distinctive visual identity within the Deering lineup. Built with equal attention to sound, feel and craftsmanship, this resonator banjo stands as a highly personal expression of premium Deering design.
Hartford Grenadillo Tone Ring With Warm, Articulate Resonator Tone
The Scott Avett Signature Truth resonator banjo is built around a Hartford grenadillo tone ring, chosen for its ability to produce a warm, rich tonal response with remarkable balance and clarity. Compared to more aggressive metal tone rings, grenadillo offers a woodier, more organic character that retains projection and articulation without sounding overly sharp or brittle. A three-ply violin-grade maple rim adds strength, resonance and tonal focus, while the poplar/walnut resonator enhances depth and sustain with a full, expressive response that feels equally at home in solo performance and ensemble settings. Together, these elements create a banjo voice that is powerful yet nuanced, capable of supporting intricate dynamics and musical detail.
Comfortable Walnut Neck With Smooth Ebony Fingerboard
A quartersawn English walnut neck gives the instrument excellent stability while contributing warmth and responsiveness to the overall playing feel. The comfortable D-shaped neck profile sits naturally in the hand for relaxed fretting across all 22 nickel-silver frets, while the ebony fingerboard adds crisp note attack and smooth articulation under the fingers. A hand-rubbed satin polyurethane finish keeps the neck feeling fast and comfortable during long sessions, and Deering Gotoh planetary tuners provide reliable tuning stability with classic banjo styling.
Custom Inlays and Handcrafted Visual Details
Visual artistry plays a central role in the Scott Avett Signature Truth resonator banjo, with custom inlays designed by Scott himself adorning both the peghead and fingerboard. These highly personal details give the instrument a distinctive identity that reflects Scott’s artistic sensibilities as much as his musicianship. A hand-rubbed satin finish, walnut-capped Deering armrest and understated nickel hardware complete the banjo’s refined aesthetic while preserving the organic, handcrafted character that defines the design.
A Signature Deering for Modern Americana Players
As a founding member of The Avett Brothers, Scott Avett has helped shape the modern Americana landscape through a deeply personal blend of folk, bluegrass, rock and acoustic storytelling. The Scott Avett Signature Truth resonator banjo reflects that same spirit through its warm, articulate voice, handcrafted appointments and highly responsive playing feel. From its grenadillo tone ring and walnut neck to its artist-designed inlays and resonant Deering construction, every element of the instrument is designed to support nuance, musicality and creative expression. Rich in character and unmistakably personal, the Deering Scott Avett Signature Truth resonator banjo stands apart as both a professional resonator banjo and a refined artistic statement.

Warranty
IF YOU BUY A "NEW" DEERING BANJO FROM A NON-AUTHORIZED DEALER, YOU HAVE PURCHASED A USED BANJO AND HAVE NO WARRANTY. When we send a Deering banjo to an authorized dealer, only that dealer or another authorized dealer can sell that banjo as new. If an authorized dealer sells a new Deering banjo to a non-authorized dealer, the non authorized dealer becomes the first owner and he becomes the bearer of the lifetime warranty; not a new dealer by transfer. When the unauthorized dealer sells that banjo to the consumer, even if it was never played or even touched, it is a used instrument and no longer carries the lifetime warranty. This is necessary so that we know how the banjo has been cared for between the time we ship it and the time that our customers buy it. We have no way of knowing how non-authorized dealers care for their instruments because we do not communicate with them. This also honors and protects the strong relationship between Deering and its treasured network of hard working Deering dealers. For your protection against theft and to ensure immediate proof of ownership, four digits of the serial number are visible on the back of the peghead on each banjo. The full serial number is inside the resonator. When you purchase a Deering banjo and send in the warranty card you will receive a Gold Credit card style ownership/warranty card. This gold card is embossed with your name and the serial number of your new banjo for easy identification. Take your Gold Card with you to festivals or when traveling so that if your banjo is ever stolen you can easily prove it's yours.
