Ragged, character-rich fuzz from one of the defining American circuits of the 1960s returns in pedalboard-friendly form with the Catalinbread Fuzzrite Mini fuzz pedal. Developed in collaboration with the estate of Mosrite founder Semie Moseley, this compact version distills the exact circuit of the original Fuzzrite into a smaller stompbox. Its distinctive voice reaches back to the garage and psychedelic sounds of the era, most recognizably heard on Iron Butterfly's “In-A-Gadda-Da-Vida.” With just Depth and Volume controls, players can move from fat, relatively clean textures through gated harmonics to aggressive saturated fuzz.

Depth Blends Two Transistor Gain Stages

The Depth control shapes the Fuzzrite Mini by blending its two transistor gain stages. At minimum, the first transistor operates on its own for a cleaner, fuller response. Turning Depth clockwise gradually introduces the second stage, moving through voltage-starved gated textures and pseudo ring-mod-style upper-octave harmonics. At maximum settings, the response becomes thinner and more saturated, with an aggressive top-end attack and pronounced bloom around the notes. This wide transition gives the single Depth knob considerable influence over both the texture and intensity of the fuzz.

Volume Pushes the Fuzzrite Into Your Amp

The Volume control sets the pedal's output level and provides another way to shape how the Fuzzrite Mini interacts with an amplifier. Lower settings make it easy to balance the effected and bypassed levels, while turning Volume higher begins to overdrive the front end of the amp. That added push can bring more body and smoothness to the fuzz response, expanding the range available from the pedal's streamlined two-knob layout.
