Description
If ever there is an official "Audio Technology Hall of Fame", it would pay tribute to the iconic Teletronix LA-2A.
The KT-2A pays homage to a studio classic: the Teletronix LA-2A. Like the LA-2A, the KT-2A delivers quality compression and limiting at a great price. Its amplifiers have been prized for their smooth musical sound and audio engineers will find it useful in all stages of the recording process—from tracking to mastering.
At the heart of the KT-2A is a vintage, lag-free optical attenuator based on the same electroluminescent technology used in its predecessor. The KT-2A is constructed from the highest-quality discrete components, all of which meet or exceed the LA-2A's original specifications. The KT-2A produces a warm sound which comes from a premium set of tubes. The selection of tubes provide low-noise analog output with balanced, warm bass, silky-smooth midrange and brilliant airy treble.
On the front of the device there is an old-school VU meter harkening back to studio gear from the 1960s and 70s. It has balanced connections and a simple interface to control Gain Reduction, Output Gain, Peak Reduction and power. There is also a switch to use the device in either "Limit" or "Compress" modes.
