Overview

As the legion of converts to the “made-for-metal” Iron Label series keeps growing, Ibanez continues to tap the seismic underworld for inspiration. Working their famous S Series body style from the “chassis” up, Ibanez speaks to the deft skills of the sinuous shredder with the SIX6FDFM.

Ibanez's Iron Label SIX6FDFM solid body electric guitar takes the speed and performance of their S series to a whole new level of intensity. It’s light enough to amaze in terms of comfort, yet heavy enough to provide the tone and sustain that the S series is known for.

The SIX6FDFM features a graceful 3-D-shape mahogany body with stunning flamed maple top, and Ibanez's cutting-edge 3pc maple/bubinga "Nitro Wizard" neck for greater speed and stability than ever. An ebony fretboard features quick response and great articulation with today’s down-tuning. The acclaimed Ibanez Gibraltar Standard II bridge improves sustain and provides faultless intonation. Gotoh locking machine heads help provide superior tuning stability and expedite string changes.

Developed in collaboration with Ibanez—DiMarzio, Fusion Edge pickups have been engineered to produce a powerful, distinctive tone with a crisp, cutting, high end, and a tight, compressed bottom end, minus any muddy mid-range. An added coil-tap feature, easily accessible through a conveniently located on/off mini switch, provides even greater tonal options. Case sold separately.

Comments about Ibanez Iron Label S Series SIX6FDFM Electric Guitar:

I've watched videos and read reviews for a long time deciding whether or not to commit to a more expensive S series, and one with no tone knob. I play Jackson, BC Rich, Schecter, Gibson, and have a few Ibanez including a basic quilted maple S with quantum pups that I love. Finally GC had this blue iron label S and I tried it with an EVH 5150 to an Orange 2x12. I was blown away. The difference was immediately noticed. I was worried the guitar would sound thin. Not at all. Super light, great warm tone. I've heard some say they swapped pups, but as with the QM hardtail I have, There is no desire to change pups. This guitar is beefier in sound yet feels lighter than the QM . I wish it had a tone knob and still had the kill switch as opposed to a coil splitter. It would just add that versatility. The blue green colors and textures really have to be seen up close. The videos were close but even the headstock is fun to look at. The bubinga in the neck looks and feels nice. This guitar is tighter than the more affordable options and in my opinion worth it. The ebony board feels nice but the reverse headstock will take time to get used to. Needless to say I brought it home and love it. Now I want one in purple.
I had to restring it immediately because whoever put the strings on felt the need not to wind any excess and so the low E just kinda plinked out while tuning. Locking tuner issue? Whatever, strings changed, patched to a few different amps and love it on everything. Marshall, Peavey, Hughes and Kettner, Orange, 2x12, 4x12.

Comments about Ibanez Iron Label S Series SIX6FDFM Electric Guitar:

I've been playing for around 8 years now and played a lot of guitars and wow this is probably one of best guitars I have ever played. It feels comfortable, light weight, and for the price is a really great guitar. This guitar can really play anything from tight clean tones to heavy djent style of music. My main guitar was a schecter hellraiser C-1, and now I cant even stop playing this guitar its a lot of fun and looks amazing.

Comments about Ibanez Iron Label S Series SIX6FDFM Electric Guitar:

Went to Guitar Center prepared to drop at least $1500 on a new guitar. I played several in that price range and then I saw this Ibanez. It looked sculpted, like a work of fine art, so I tried it and I was amazed. It played better than guitars that cost twice as much, the neck is like lightning and the pickups are hot enough to fry an egg. It hardly weighs anything, but it still feels sturdy. With the coil tap you can also pull Strat-like tones out of this beastie, making it very versatile. If you are not strictly a metal player, which I am not, don't let the "Made for Metal" label steer you away from this model, it's more than capable of any kind of blues or rock. I played it, I loved it, I bought it, and saved myself $600.

Comments about Ibanez Iron Label S Series SIX6FDFM Electric Guitar:

After a good setup, this is guitar is perfect . I've owned every brand of guitar across 20 years from $99-5k. This is the best playing guitar (after a thorough setup) I've had in a long time. Only flaw is no case or bag. At this price point I would expect at least a gig bag.
