The Fender Custom Shop Troposphere Stratocaster pickup set was designed to showcase classic Strat tone at its most expressive, prioritizing headroom, responsiveness and nuance over sheer output. Developed by Fender Custom Shop Master Builder Paul Waller, the Troposphere pickups are carefully underwound to preserve their character under overdrive while cleaning up beautifully with your guitar's volume control. Featuring Alnico V magnets and a unique combination of '50s-style Formvar and '60s-style enamel magnet wire, the Troposphere set delivers articulate vintage Stratocaster character with exceptional touch sensitivity, allowing every nuance of your playing to shine through.

Underwound Design for Maximum Headroom

Rather than increasing output, the Troposphere pickups are intentionally underwound to preserve headroom, note definition and the lively feel that makes them exceptionally rewarding to play. A carefully voiced combination of '50s-style Formvar wire on the bridge and middle pickups with '60s-style enamel wire on the neck gives each position its own distinct character while maintaining a cohesive, balanced set. Staggered pole pieces provide even string-to-string output, while the reverse-wound, reverse-polarity middle pickup eliminates hum in positions 2 and 4. Traditional fiber bobbins, period-correct cloth-covered lead wire and wax-potted construction complete a Troposphere pickup set that reflects the meticulous attention to detail expected from the Fender Custom Shop.
