The Burl Audio B80 B4 4-channel mic/line ADC daughter card combines four channels of professional microphone preamplification with Burl's NextGen Analog technology, newly developed BX6 input transformers and discrete Class-A BOPA14 op-amps. Designed for the B80 and B16 Mothership platforms, the B4 features a fully balanced analog signal path engineered for exceptionally low noise while preserving the natural detail and tonal character of microphones and line-level sources. Its BX6 transformers are specifically designed to accommodate both microphone and line-level signals, providing 2.5 kilohms microphone input impedance and 10 kilohms line input impedance. Each channel feeds the same analog-to-digital conversion architecture used in Burl's acclaimed BAD8, bringing high-quality digital capture and distinctive transformer-coupled analog character together in a versatile four-channel expansion card.

Class-A Preamplification and Scalable I/O Support Professional Recording

The B4 combines four XLR mic/line inputs with digitally controlled preamplification, allowing engineers to integrate high-quality analog front-end processing into a scalable Mothership recording system. Its discrete Class-A BOPA14 circuitry and BX6 input transformers support detailed signal capture across a wide range of sources, with up to 59dB of gain for microphone recording. Frequency response measures -0.03dB at 10Hz, with high-frequency response measuring -1.5dB at 30kHz with 0dB gain or -2.5dB at 30kHz with full gain. Selectable ADC filtering provides additional conversion flexibility, while Avid delay matching supports accurate timing when integrating the card into compatible professional recording workflows. A fully populated B80 Mothership can accommodate up to 40 channels of B4 mic/line inputs, creating a high-density recording or stage-box system that can integrate with compatible Dante or SoundGrid networking.
