Engineered for professional studio recording and live sound applications, the B4 features a fully balanced analog signal path designed to maintain an exceptionally low noise floor while preserving the detail and character of microphones and line-level sources. Its BX6 transformers provide dedicated microphone and line-level input impedance characteristics, with 2.5 kiloohms for microphone signals and 10 kiloohms for line-level sources. Each channel feeds the same analog-to-digital conversion architecture used in the Burl BAD8, delivering high-quality digital capture with the distinctive sonic character of Burl's transformer-coupled analog circuitry.

Class-A Preamplification and Flexible Digital Integration Expand Recording Capabilities

The B4 combines four XLR mic/line inputs with digitally controlled preamplification, allowing engineers to integrate premium analog front-end processing into a scalable Mothership recording system. Its Class-A BOPA14 circuitry and BX6 transformers support detailed signal capture across a wide range of input levels, with up to 59dB of gain for microphone recording. Frequency response extends down to 10Hz with just -0.03dB deviation, while high-frequency performance reaches 30kHz with -1.5dB deviation at 0dB gain or -2.5dB at full gain. Selectable ADC filtering provides additional conversion flexibility, while AVID delay matching supports accurate timing when integrating the card into compatible professional recording workflows.
