The Sensor Gold - World Class Tone in a 3-pack of single coils. Lace has built these world famous patented pickups since 1985. Used exclusively by Fender until 1996, these pickups have the same specifications with the same great tone. Gold Lace Sensor pickups are designed to duplicate an early Fender single coil pickup.
Crisp top end and bell-like tone, it utilizes the latest technology to provide excellent tone for today's players.

The Lace Sensor Gold has a unique radiant Field Barrier system that surrounds both the coil and magnets, reducing annoying 60-cycle hum. The patented Lace Micro Combs replace traditional bobbins, yielding a wider tonal range and better string balance than traditional pickups.

Unlike ordinary pickups, it generates 36 separate magnetic "sensing" fields that, in the areas where they contact the string, "read" the strings' vibration. (Regular pickups only generate anywhere from 4 to 12 fields).

The Lace Sensor Gold also has Radiant Field Barriers: metal slides that frame the inner core of the Sensors and perform two functions. The first is to shield the Sensor from the outside noise and 60-cycle hum. The second is to produce broader, yet more concentrated, umbrellas of sensing field than standard magnetic pickups.

Less Noise, More Harmonics
As compared to standard guitar pickups, the Lace Sensor Gold reads a greater physical area of the string, while picking up less outside interference. This makes the signal-to-noise ratio nothing short of phenomenal for a single coil system. Also, a wider range of harmonic content is read by the Sensor, delivering a more complex tonal response.

Increased Sustain, Truer Pitch
Since it operates so efficiently, Lace Sensors can utilize much lower energy magnets than ordinary pickups, and this in turn brings about a whole new realm of properties. In regular guitar pickups, the magnetic fields are so strong they physically dampen, or drag on, the strings' vibration, Reducing sustain and actually changing the pitch. But in the Lace Sensor Gold, string dampening is virtually nonexistent. This means your sustain is increased dramatically while the string holds its true pitch for the duration of the note.

Get ready to hear your amp. These pickups range from very acoustic to very strat like based on how you set your amp. Mine are very quiet with no shielding, If you're considering these it is important to remember that they do not sound "exactly" like conventional single coils. That being said, they're my favorite pickups and have their own mojo. I play primarily clean through fender/vox amps, but these pick ups allow you to turn up the gain without losing articulation. Love them and can't recommend them enough, thanks Lace

I bought these because less noise is always better and I wanted to put them in my Buddy Guy signature strat to make it even more like what he actually plays anyway but I've had no luck. I had the local guitar shop tech put them in even though I was an electronics tech previously just to make sure it was done perfectly and I now have hum and more noise than I ever had with the stock MIM pups. You would immediately think it's a bad ground when you see it go away with a hand on the strings but he rechecked everything and it's well grounded and he even added another ground connection after to see if that fixed it but it didn't. Now obviously I know he's done something wrong that he's going to have to figure out still and it's not that these normally do that (tons of people love how hum and noise free these are) but if someone who has installed a million sets of pickups has this problem simply wiring them in just as the instructions say to on the most common guitar on the planet then that's a problem.

What I wanted was simple, pickups that sound just like the stock pickups on my Fender Stratocaster minus the hum. That's exactly what these pickups were! These babies are so quiet, especially if your guitar's wiring is shielded correctly. These pickups have a nice clean tone and an amazing high distortion tone as well as everything in between. They have a nice high treble sound and aren't too middy. Overall, these pickups are just about the most versatile pickups you can come across. Just be warned, if you buy these from the store, make sure it's a brand new package, not a returned one. I got one that was returned and only 1 pickup worked properly, the bridge one. One sounded as if there wasn't a capacitor in my guitar and the other's volume was really low, so low I couldn't hear it if I had headphones on.

With names like Clapton, Townshend and Buddy Guy being associated with these p'ups, I was really expecting a lot. I was disappointed. I have been playing guitar for 28 years and I really had to struggle with the fact that these did not look like "normal" singlecoil pickups with the magnet/pole pieces. Make sure you are OK with playing an instrument that looks like it should be plugged into a game console, not an amp. If you can hang with the looks, we'll move on to the sound. Output is low, very vintage and would not overdrive my SS amp. If you like "Texas wound" or hot/hotter pickups that will push an amp to breakup, this set is not for you. The Lace Gold sound was not quite sterile but was very clean with even signal response and seemed to lack the character or nuances that a set of staggered pole pickups with a stronger magnetic field impart. I am guessing that sound men/engineers probably love the Lace Sensor pickups. They are decent pickups, just seemed to lack flavor or individuality. If you want a low output, pure, even signal, these would be a great starting point.

I just installed the Lace Sensor Gold 3 pack into my new American Standard Strat. These pickups are alive, and now so is my guitar. It's just like they said, crisp, clear, and bell like. The Strat sound I had in my head. Jimi Hendix's sigle coil sound of The Wind Cries Mary, and when overdriven they scream like Eric Clapton's solo's. No magnet pull, and no noise. Wonderful. And all that without the mid boost pre-amp I installed with them. The Gold's are the right strength for a classic Strat sound, like all Strats from the 50's to the 70's before after market pickups were born.
