    This tambourine has the kind of sound that you hear on older, 60's records (like "Love Child" or "Reflections") with a great "wash" but it's large and loud and "cuts" through the music. Yes it is heavier than the plastic or even the cheaper wooden one I have, so I don't recommend for children or as a first instrument, but the brass jingles were super shiny and the wood smooth and clean with no cracks or problems! Recommended for adults with experience or people who are looking for that particular studio quality sound from yesteryear...
