I can't believe I have this amazing SG that sounds great clean and roars when you need it , the custom pickups sound more musical then I have ever heard and that fat neck with the10 radius feels great for chording down the neck and helps it stay in tune , none of my guitars compares .

One of my gigs is playing Robbie K in a popular Doors tribute act in the Rocky mountain region of the US. I normally play a '64 SG with Vibrola, as Robbie did. As the summer festival season started ramping up, we were playing more outdoor shows and, if you've spent time in the Rockies, you know a summer evening can go from 90 degrees to 50 degrees, sometimes during the same set. Needless to say, my normally stable '64 was seeing some tuning stresses. I needed a hard tail. But I didn't want to step down in quality. I found one of these on the MF / GC website and decided to plunk down the credit card. It has exceeded every expectation. I prefer the feel of the fat neck to the standard 64. The sound is nearly identical - which is fantastic. I've always considered the SG as Gibson's answer to the Tele and this one proves the point. It does rock it twangs and it chicken picks. It's all you need - and it's light!!!! Great guitar. Heirloom quality.

I was on the edge about this guiitar, 59 neck on an sg, when is an sg not an sg anymore, major neck dive from thicker neck, etc. I am glad I went for it, one of the best guitars I've played, and I own a few custom shop gibsons, r7 custom, r8, r9, etc. Awesome tone, somewhat warmer than small neck sgs and super comfortable. I was very surprised that it has no neck dive to speak of. Qc is top notch, playability is awesome and looks fantastic. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Like I said WOW. If you're thinking about one don't, just do it.

This has been an interesting year.....anticipating everything would skyrocket in price...I bought about 60k in guitars. This includes a Custom Shop 56, 58, 59x2, Les Pauls. Then another 12 or so Standard Gibson Les Pauls, ES, etc. Then on a whim I got the 61/59 Les Paul only available from GC or MF. I never wanted an SG, and turned a 67' original down for $120 from the original owner in 1988. I am humbled by how much I love this 61/59 SG. The neck is perfeeeect. and the body weight is perfect for me. Great balance and sound. I prefer to play this guitar over any other gibson I have purchased. This is a hidden gem if you're in the market for an SG, but want a neck with a bit more beef. Wonderful creation.

Two questions. Is there one nearby me (90815) that I could play before buying? I have the same 61 Les Paul Custom Shop 2003. Do you take trade-Ins? Thanks,

There is not store within 200 miles of you. We do normally welcome trade ins but that will require in store contact and you would need to check if your local store is open.
