Tour Custom: The versatility, projection and dynamic range is what professional drummers around the world have come to expect from Yamaha Drums with no compromise on the finish quality. All-maple shells give Tour Custom drums their warm, open tone. These shells are designed with a 6-ply, 5.6 mm / 45º bearing edge that adds tonal depth and quick response and a great balance of snare sensitivity and wide, dynamic range. Finished with a beautiful satin lacquer that maximizes the sonic potential of the maple shell, Tour Custom snare drums provide a classic Yamaha maple snare sound with perfect sensitivity for any genre of music. The 2.3 mm inverse DynaHoop controls the natural overtones inherent to all-maple drums and focuses the fundamental tone of the shell creating a comfortable, solid back beat and smooth cross stick perfect for any room or studio. Yamaha absolute lugs with single-point mounting provide the perfect balance of open tone with controlled attack. Compact, lightweight strainer with a smooth, simple and reliable design, and dual snare tension adjustment for fine snare fine-tuning.

I purchased the Tour Custom drum set about three years ago, I was looking for the maple drum sound found in the Yamaha line up. Known for the warm tones and decay they are a perfect gig kit for the working drummer. Top of the line hardware, ten lug bass drum has an excellent tuning range. My kit was the 10x7 12x8 14x16 16x22 I added the 12x14 to the mix. I ordered the 5.5x14 matching snare. I changed all of the heads to Evans bottoms are G1 & tops are coated G2. The tuning range is fantastic and the toms deliver an excellent tone with cutting power. The shorter decay gives them a warm feel with big bottom ends on the bass and floor toms. The snare is far about the intermediate class and the price falls into the very affordable category. Great snare feel and the inverted hoops take make it a beautiful live show right with excellent decay. The snare is master class and using all high end parts I highly recommend this over the much more expensive recording customs. I bought the second one to use with my 7 peice stage customs. I give this snare a 10 in all the boxes

How do I know? I'm back in my band's good graces with the Yamaha Tour Custom Maple. Once you find the tone you want, fine tune the snare wire from BOTH sides. The stock head is actually decent. Perfect snare, durable so far, too.

  • Awesome snare drum.

Being used at a home studio, will be used as a gigging drum in the near future. Super light weight with a huge warm sound

I’m sorry, we don’t know what the blemish is. The blemishes will be perhaps minor scratches, average handling wear. There will be no effect on playability or sound.
