Yamaha's TRBX505 5-string premium electric bass is a sleek bass that gives you a comfortable contoured body and a fast 5-piece maple/mahogany neck—perfect for any playing style. Powerful YGD H5 Alnico V pickups and an advanced active/passive preamp design provide flexibility and tone shaping to craft your ideal sound.

Premium Mahogany Construction for Rich Tone

The TRBX505's sculpted solid mahogany body delivers balanced, resonant tone and comfortable playability. Its 5-piece maple/mahogany neck offers stability, adjustability and punchy tone. The combination of premium tonewoods results in full, rich sound with singing sustain.

YGD H5 Pickups for Power and Nuance

Yamaha designed the quad-polepiece YGD H5 pickups to provide clean, open tone with the power to drive the active preamp and the sensitivity to capture each subtlety in passive mode. Their alnico magnets and balanced windings readily handle the demands of any genre.

Audiophile-Grade Active/Passive Preamp for Ultimate Control

The TRBX505's active/passive preamp gives you maximum tonal flexibility. The advanced design offers matched output in passive or active mode and seamless switching between treble control and master passive tone. Quality components provide increased conductivity, reliability and instant low-battery indication. Sculpt your ideal sound for any musical situation.

Precision Components for Playability and Sound

A high-mass die-cast bridge efficiently transfers string vibrations for rich tone and sustain. 18mm string spacing offers comfortable playability for any technique. Straight string pull from nut to tuner reduces overtones and improves tuning stability. A 43 mm nut width gives fast, comfortable playability. Yamaha's durable metal jack plate withstands the demands of frequent use and touring.

This was a gift to my son. He likes it a lot, he is the bassist on his band at college. This is his second base guitar. He's learning to use 5 string and he said this guitar is really nice. We like how it sounds and it looks really cool. We got it on sale and we think it's a great deal.

I like the weight and balance of the TRBX505. I tried several other basses before this one and like the features and sound of this one best. I especially like the ability to play it as either passive or active… and that the passive apparently is truly passive. I have had it for couple of months and have already had the battery die, no trouble…plays fine in the passive mode. I need to mention the one thing I didn't realize is that you need to unplug the cord from it when not in use or the circuitry apparently will cause the battery to continue to slowly drain. Great right out the box, string height good, intonation good, love the feel of it/neck great for me. I might mention that I play several other instruments (including guitar) but owning a bass is new to me. I would buy this one again.

I was playing a pawn shop Ibanez 305B that I completely rebuilt. I still love that bass dearly but I knew there was better sounding basses out there. I went to a guitar store and played one of these Yamaha 505s and I was in love. They wanted more than I had that day so I went shopping and found one on Guitarcenter.com for a great deal. This bass has every sound in it that I was looking for and only found in boutique or high-end models of major manufacturers. I can't believe how good this sounds right out of the box The low B sounds like a piano. I will be happy with this bass for many years to come.
