I played a bass with active pickups for about 15 years. I wanted the passive growl. No set up needed! Perfect right out of the box. Sound, quality and price. This is a great bass.

I haven't been playing bass for long, so take my comments for what they're worth. This bass is my switch from 4 string to 5 string. It's going to take awhile for me to adapt, but I will say that right out of the box it's perfectly balanced. I was hoping for this, as my (soon-to-be) previous bass was so poorly balanced that if I released the neck it would nose dive until the headstock was pointed at the floor. This made playing very tiring. The BB235 is well balanced, and I'm able to let loose of the neck and it stays put. That's a big plus for me. In addition to the balance, it sounds great. I love the growl of that low B! It's also beautiful. The red color is nice and rich, and looks better than the photo depicts. Time will tell as I become more proficient at the 5 string. But for now, I give it 5 stars.
