Tone King

collapse expand iconDescription

The Tone King Falcon Grande is a 20W tube guitar combo amp that utilizes a straightforward control layout consisting of volume, tone and 3-position voicing switches to deliver a surprising amount of tonal flexibility. The Rhythm, Tweed and Lead voicings provide clear spank, warm compression or singing overdrive respectively. Thanks to the onboard Ironman II reactive load power attenuator, you can crank the Falcon Grande to its max and bring the volume down to band or home-friendly levels.

Three Vintage-Inspired Voicings, One Versatile Amp

The Falcon Grande's 3-position voicing switch unlocks Rhythm, Tweed and Lead tones derived from revered vintage amps. The Rhythm setting delivers a clear and articulate tone with headroom to spare. Select Tweed for a warmer, compressed tone reminiscent of a tweed-covered classic. Flip to Lead and the Falcon Grande unleashes a singing overdrive perfect for solos.

Ironman II Attenuation Keeps Volume in Check

While the Falcon Grande loves to be cranked, Tone King knows that's not always possible. Their Ironman II reactive load power attenuator is built into the Falcon Grande, letting you achieve power amp saturation at manageable volume levels. Dial in your perfect tone and the Ironman II attenuates the signal for practice or recording, without sacrificing tone.

Custom Eminence Speaker and Tuned Cabinet

The Falcon Grande features a custom-voiced 12" Eminence speaker housed in a specially tuned cabinet. The cabinet's Acoustic Lens technology tames harsh high frequencies, resulting in a balanced tone with rich lows, clear mids and smooth highs. Combined with the Falcon Grande's tube-driven circuitry, the custom speaker helps produce a dynamic, touch-sensitive tone.

Versatile and Portable

Weighing in at just over 40 pounds, the Falcon Grande is relatively lightweight for a tube combo amp yet provides enough volume and headroom for live performance. With 12AX7 power tubes, a padded cover and sturdy cabinet construction, the Falcon Grande can handle the demands of gigging while retaining that coveted tube amp tone. Order the Tone King Falcon Grande today for a portable tube amp that covers all your tonal bases.

I have a few combo amps. I got this one because of the attenuation, which is really nice although not as quiet as YouTube videos might make you think. All the way up and it can still get loud if you push it. Now I use an OX so I don't really need that feature. The tones are really nice in the clean. Buttery rather than sparkly. Reverb adds good presence. The 3 voicings are ok. I would prefer more knobs rather than essentially presets. But they work well. The lead setting is a little hot. But I guess that's the point. All and all I like it. Not perfect but it doesn't have any major flaws and would be a good addition to a home setup.

i GET WHAT THEY WERE GOING FOR BUT THIS AMP SOUNDED AWFUL. THE CAB WAS WOOFY AND WAY TO THIN AND SO BASS HEAVY i HAD TO RUN THE TREBLE FULL ON. IT WAS STILL TOO DARK. i GIT SOME OKAY SOUNDS BUT i HAD TO FIDDLE FOR DAYS TO GET ONE OK SOUND WITH A CUSTOM SHOP LES PAUL AND C.S. STRAT. I HAD TO WORK WAY TO HARD TO GET GOOD SOUNDS AND THE TONE STACK (ONE KNOB) WAS LACKING. I REALLY WANTED TO LIKE THIS AMP BUT THE VOICING FELL INTO THE "WHAT WERE THEY THINKING CATEGORY. IF YOU LIKE EVEN REMOTELY CONVENTIONAL SOUNDS AVOID THIS AMP. i NOTICED ALL THE DEMOS HAD THE AMP RAISED UP HIGH AFTER i BOUGHT IT. i RETURNED IT AND GOT A BAD CAT USA 15R, SONIC BLISS! tHE TONE KING JUST WAS NOT THE RIGHT CHOICE FOR ME. i;M SURE IT WOULD BE PERFECT FOR SOMEONE.
