Novation was conceived in 1992 by a couple of passionate pioneers: Iain Janaway and Chris Hugget, the man behind OSCar and Wasp. Together they developed new methods of controlling technology, which let them generate sound in ways that could keep pace with musical creativity and vision.
The result of their obsession is Novation's legacy: Bass Station, Supernova, Drum Stations. This evolution of technology changed the face of music making forever and created the genre we now know as electronic music.
In 2004, Novation joined the Focusrite family and continued to expand their range of synthesizers to combine their heritage in analogue and digital. In 2009, their revolutionary grid instrument, Launchpad, inspired an entirely new way of making and sharing electronic music.
Novation gear has always been made by musicians for musicians. They use the gear they design every day, as do bedroom producers and A-List artists alike around the world. Their mission remains the same: to inspire the creation of new electronic music.
