collapse expand iconDescription

Mojotone ‘58 Quiet Coil with Hot Quiet Coil pickguards are masterfully prewired to perfection with no soldering required. Nothing but the best-quality parts are used like a custom taper and super low torque CTS pots, Switchcraft jack, Mojotone Vitamin T oil-filled capacitor and CRL 5-way switch. A treble-bleed cap is installed to preserve treble when rolling the volume back.

The ‘58 Quiet Coil with the Hot Quiet Coil gives you a pure vintage '50s Strat tone in the neck and middle positions with a hotter bridge pickup for those who need slightly more girth and sustain out of the bridge position. Carefully balanced in output from the neck, middle to bridge positions, and completely hum-cancelling in all positions.

What is the difference between the ‘58 and ‘67 Quiet Coils?
Just like the original 1958 and 1967 Strat pickups, the materials, number of turns, winding patterns, etc. all changed throughout the different years of manufacturing. The '58s tend to sound brighter with more upper midrange presence, which gives them a glassier tone, compared to the '67s which are slightly more scooped on the mids with a rounder top end, and more quack in positions 2 and 4 of the 5-way switch.

Does the Hot Quiet Coil in the bridge position sound like a humbucker?
No, the Hot Quiet Coil is designed to sound like an overwound single-coil Strat pickup with more bass, mids and output compared to a vintage-spec bridge pickup. This gives you more girth and sustain without sacrificing single-coil dynamics or tone.

Simple installation - took me 15-20 minutes and didn't even have to de-string. Pickups are brighter and livelier than the stock pickups, with better clarity. The switch and knobs are solid with no wiggle. The tonality between the pickups is vastly improved. Highly recommended.

  • Great for a Partscaster

Installed this in a hand-me-down worthless bargain brand strat knockoff, and now I have a guitar that sounds better than a stock stratocaster. Highly recommend!

  • Great sounding set. Knobs feel cheap & out of balance

For as good as the pickups are...the knobs are completely not up to par. They feel like the cheapest of cheap and are not even balanced (turning them looks out of center or crooked). All in all I think it works and sounds great. Simple installation. However, I'm beginning to think I am going to take all the parts and transfer to new pick guard and especially new heavier duty knobs.

I just installed the Mojotone '58 Quiet Coil with Hot Bridge Strat Prewired Pickguard. Sounds great, very happy. Just wondered exactly what the blender and volume mod switches do. I installed as is, and wonder if I should change these settings. Also, it appears that the bottom tone nob controls the bridge, the top tone nob does very little with either the middle or neck. Exactly what are the tone nob functions supposed to be? Thanks.

Nice choice with the Mojotone '58 Quiet Coils — those are great pickups. The quiet coil design is really smart and gives that vintage Strat tone without the hum. Let’s break down what’s going on with the blender, volume mod, and tone knob functions on your prewired pickguard: Blender Control: The blender knob replaces the usual second tone knob function, and it lets you "blend in" pickups that wouldn’t normally be active together on a traditional 5-way Strat switch. Here’s what it typically does: Position 1 (Bridge) – Blend in the Neck pickup. Position 2 (Bridge + Middle) – Blend in the Neck pickup. Position 3 (Middle) – No effect (since neck and bridge are not active). Position 4 (Middle + Neck) – Blend in the Bridge pickup. Position 5 (Neck) – Blend in the Bridge pickup. So essentially, with the blender turned up, you can get: Bridge + Neck tones (like a Telecaster). All three pickups at once. Volume Mod: The volume mod (also known as a treble bleed mod) is a small capacitor (sometimes with a resistor) on the volume pot. It helps retain treble frequencies when rolling down the volume. Without it: turning the volume down makes your tone muddier/darker. With it: your highs stay more intact as you lower the volume. If you like riding the volume knob for dynamics and don't want to lose brightness, this mod is great. But: if you prefer the tone to mellow out when you roll back volume (like some vintage setups), you might consider removing it. Totally personal preference. You mentioned: the bottom tone knob controls the bridge, the top tone knob does very little with either the middle or neck This isn’t the standard Fender wiring — which usually has: Top tone: Neck. Bottom tone: Middle. Bridge has no tone control. But Mojotone’s prewired pickguards often come with custom wiring. What you're describing sounds like their "master tone for bridge" setup, possibly with a blender configuration. Here’s a likely setup: Top tone knob: May be disconnected or only slightly affecting the neck (some users say it feels inactive depending on the cap value or wiring). Bottom tone knob (blender): Active control over blending in bridge or neck, depending on position. Sometimes they use a master tone setup, where the tone affects all pickups. If the top knob isn't doing much, you can open it up and verify where it's connected — or just rewire it to suit your taste (like standard neck/middle or neck/bridge tone control). Should You Change These Settings? That depends on how you play: If you like having Tele-style bridge+neck tones or all-three pickups → keep the blender. If you like your tone staying bright at low volume → keep the volume mod. If you want more traditional tone knob behavior → rewire the tone controls (easy fix).
