I recently bought a Ludwig Shell pack in black oyster and just added this snare . I love it . Has a great sound . I like to tune high . It has a awesome pop. I highly recommend this for any type of music. I use it for vintage dance music. Not only a great looking drum also a fantastic sound.

I bought this snare along with the matching white marine pearl kit. The classic maple snare has great projection and a rich tone. The build quality is flawless and frankly with our national trade deficit, I'm very glad it's made in the USA.
