Very nice, well rounded pickups

I upgraded an Epiphone SG g400 with a set of these. Honestly these pickups saved the guitar from being sold. Very clear, and I think very versatile set of pickups. Don't let the output values fool you, they aren't so high output as to be limited to high gain metal. My next set will be a pair of Dirty Heshers for a LP style guitar build.

I had these installed on my very 1st guitar, a 80s Metallic Purple flake super strat style guitar made by Hyundai, yes I said Hyundai. Not many reviews so I took a chance when I purchased these, and the burnt chrome matched the paint pretty well on the guitar. Bingo! These pickups brought a new lioke to that old guitar, I have tried them through Mesa Boogie MK V and Line Six , and Fender tube and soid state amps...all sound great w/ these PUPs and when you play a driven power chord it'll give you the chills, awesome overtones, pinch harmonics, great for drop tuning, but wait. I play these on clean on the neck pickup and tone knob slightly rolled back and these sound great for Jazz Comping. Highly recommend, the only thing is don't think they are going to look like the ones shown in the ad. They are not that blue and purple vibrant color shown, they are a lot darker looking than that. You shouldn't be buying pickups based solely on how they look, they do look cool on my old purple guitar, but they sound even better.

I ordered a set of these for a purple Ibanez Premium RG920QMZ. The previous owner had installed a set of DiMarzios - one with black/purple coils, the other with purple/blue coils. They just didn't look quite right and sounded a bit too weak for my taste. Generally, I am a Seymour Duncan user, but I had read reviews about the Fingerburners and thought they would suit my tonal tastes while complementing the purple quilted maple top. I opened the packaging to find the best constructed pickups I have ever installed. All of the components are high quality and meticulously assembled. The Fingerburners mounting feet are wide and have three holes on either side. I assume this is to accomodate Fender's three screw mounting. This made installation tricky, as the Ibanez has body-mount pickup cavities with a very small window for the mounting screws. I used a Dremel to shape the feet to the proper size. Also, because of the covers, the FBs were larger than the DiMarzios that I removed. It was a very tight fit, but I got them in without any wood routing. After the physical challenges were eliminated, the wiring was as easy as any other four-conductor other pickup. They sound every bit as good as I expected. All around good voicing with enough power to play whatever my heart desires. Don't let the relatively low DC resistance fool you - they sound great for metal!
