Overview

While Talman basses normally have the more common 34” “long-scale” neck, the TMB30 offers a “short-scale” 30” neck. The shorter neck is often preferred by players of smaller stature who find a long-scale instrument to be unwieldy. It is also a favorite of guitarists who double on bass— the shorter scale having a feel closer to that of an electric guitar.

The TMB30 features include a Mahogany body for a warm, punchy tone, a Maple neck with Rosewood fretboard, a Standard bridge, and a black pickguard to complete the classic vibe. Electronics consist of an Ibanez Dynamix P neck pickup and a Dynamix J bridge pickup for that rich, vintage sound.

Comments about Ibanez TMB30 Electric Bass:

I play short scale basses almost exclusively. I've been looking for a while to find an inexpensive SS bass with a common pick up configuration for touring so i wouldn't be afraid of banging around a bit. The TMB 30 is exactly what i was looking for. Looks good, plays better, and the pups aren't bad but i did swap the jazz pup for a duncan because thats what i normally play, although it really did have a good sound stock. These are the absolute best option if you like short scale basses, i don't know why these aren't insanely popular.

Comments about Ibanez TMB30 Electric Bass:

I originally bought a Yamaha TRBX174 and long scale was too difficult for me, so opted for this short scale bass. I have small hands and arthritis and it was difficult for me to play that behemoth. I'm a beginner and this guitar suits me. I'm sure I'll move up in the future because I'm having so much fun learning this instrument. I didn't expect much for a guitar under ($200.00) But once I get a little more experience behind me? All I can say is Victor Wooten, Marcus Miller, Stanley Clark, you have nothing to worry about. lol

Comments about Ibanez TMB30 Electric Bass:

Wanted a short scale bass that was inexpensive but not cheap. This fits the bill and it's just fun to play.
Feels solid and while it may lack the tone of a much more expensive bass you can't beat the price. It qualified for a discount so made it very affordable.

Comments about Ibanez TMB30 Electric Bass:

I am a guitar player who sometimes plays bass. This short scale bass is just perfect for someone like me. I am sure there are guitar players out there who shy away from bass because our muscle memory develops differently. This short scale bass resolves that. It plays great, sounds great and it's easy on your wallet. I was also delighted to find that it fits just fine in a Gator jaguar/jazzmaster guitar case.

The cord is very cheap and short. I have others, so not a big deal. Nice Bass for the price.

Comments about Ibanez TMB30 Electric Bass:

Very solid feeling instrument. 9 volt active EQ works well with two "stacked controls" which after a bit are easy to get used to. Neck feel is chunkier than most Ibanez basses, even a bit chunkier than my Mexican Fender P Bass. Nice fret finishing and Soda Blue paint work. Hardware quality is ok for home play, I think if you played out and knocked it around a bit it might show its marginal quality. This is my practice at work bass and for $179.00, how can you go wrong? PS - pay the store to do a professional setup, beginner or not, it makes a huge difference with any instrument.

Comments about Ibanez TMB30 Electric Bass:

I tried a few different basses but am a sucker for Ibanez to start with. I fell in love at first sight with the TMB-30's look, short-scale, and P-J set up. I ordered it hoping it would live up to my expectations (local GC did not have any in stock.) It showed up, I plugged in, and I've been happily plucking away ever since! It suits my needs as I enjoy learning more as a bassist, sounds and feels great, and is just plain fun to play! Can't beat the price and I don't understand why this model doesn't get the attention it deserves! I have the black and made a few minor swaps to add some color (screws & knobs.) Now this one is uniquely mine but I highly recommend you get one too!
