I've been on the quest for the perfect pick since I was in college and realized the difference one oddball pick made in my playing. I've since used stone, wood, metal, nut, acrylic, and anything else that was in the shape of a pick. These Ernie Ball Prodigy picks are not the perfect pick, but as far as mass produced ones go, it is definitely up there. The grippage is very good, similar to that from an acrylic pick. The bevels are really helpful for speed and accuracy, as the point is very sharp with a nice shape to the bevel. The size of these are better for me than the original Prodigy pick, since I can get a nice hold on them. I use these picks for my technique practice and daily drills. They wont give a good sound if you are strumming (you'll hear the pick), and are probably too heavy for that anyway. So it wouldn't be a gigging pick, but an excellent one for the long term work of technique, posture, endurance, precision, and the other factors that make up the preparations for a good performance. You should try one. You owe it to yourself to see what is out there, and how it changes your playing AND your sound. Then try something else. Keep trying picks - you'll love some and hate others. But each pick does something better than others, and it's worth trying until you find it!
