Epiphone

collapse expand iconDescription

The Epiphone J-200 EC Studio acoustic-electric guitar is inspired by Gibson's iconic SJ-200 "King of the Flattops." This innovative cutaway design opens up the upper frets for effortless playability while retaining the full, balanced tone of a jumbo maple body and solid spruce top. Now equipped with a Fishman Sonicore under-saddle pickup and Presys preamp, the J-200 EC Studio projects its signature sound for all to hear.

Cutaway Design Provides Comfort and Access

The stylish cutaway body of the J-200 EC Studio allows players to reach higher frets with ease for solos and complex chords. Despite its sleek appearance, the guitar retains the same solid spruce top and select maple back and sides of the original SJ-200 for a full, resonant tone. The 25.5" scale SlimTaper D-profile neck and pau ferro fretboard feel instantly familiar and playable.

Iconic Appointments Carry on a Legacy

With a tortoiseshell pickguard, mustache bridge and crown inlays, the J-200 EC Studio looks every bit like the acoustic legend. Gold die-cast tuners, hardware and Epiphone's signature sloped dove wing headstock complete the vintage-inspired aesthetic.

Plug In and Play On

The Fishman Sonitone preamp and Sonicore under-saddle pickup transform the J-200 EC Studio into a gig-ready acoustic-electric. With simple controls for volume, EQ and tuner, players can easily adjust their tone to suit any venue.

A Timeless Instrument for Players of All Levels

Whether you're a seasoned guitarist or just learning, the Epiphone J-200 EC Studio is an acoustic that will only improve with age. Its balanced tone, comfortable feel and legendary style have endured for decades and found a place in music history. Now equipped for the stage, the J-200 EC Studio is an even more versatile instrument suited for players of all levels.

EJ200CE

I was so surprised and delighted when I first picked up my Epiphone EJ200CE. It has a great warm sound with clean hi's after I re-strung it with Elixir polyweb electric strings. (it is Acoustic/Electric)The tone controls came in to the rescue with my Marshal Amp. Anyone from beginers to seasoned advanced players will be quite amazed with the sound, price and quality of this guitar. Oh by the way, I never write reviews. This guitar made me do it!

My Follow Up Review

This is my second review on this guitar. I finally returned it to Guitar Center, and they were very nice about it, and gave me a full refund. So no problem there whatsoever. Within a couple days of receiving the guitar, I noticed that the pick guard was bubbling up and actually detaching from the face of the guitar. After having the guitar for around a month I started having feedback problems on the low b notes on the 6th and 5th strings. That was the final factor that made me decide to not purchase another one. It's too bad, as it is a beautiful instrument, easy to play, with good action. If you get a good one, you will probably love it. Once again, it's worth mentioning that Guitar Center was very good to deal with. I can't imagine purchasing a guitar from anyone else.

I let this product set for like two days before I even tuned it. When I opened the box it had smudge marks all over it and if that wasn't enough the neck had a hump in it and the first three strings had a rattle. So I returned and they ordered me a new one very nice and helpful young men. That was the guitar center in Belleville IL

I have always loved Epiphone guitars and have wanted a jumbo body to add to my collection. This guitar also checked another box with its stunning Trans Ebony finish. Let me tell you, the pictures don't do this guitar justice as it is an absolute jaw dropper. The mustache bridge sets this guitar off perfectly. Now, to the sound...it will blow you away! Don't really need an amp in a small setting because she sings loudly. Hooking her up to an amp only means you can touch more people with your music. I love this guitar!!

I'm undecided between the epiphone EJ 200 or the epiphone dove. Is there a size difference ? Which tone is deeper ? I play strictly country music.

The studio is a stripped down version of the EJ200. The big difference is the EJ-200 has improved electronics.
