collapse expand iconDescription

The DW Design Series Black Nickel Over Brass Snare Drum, a 14"x6.5" snare that delivers a harmonious blend of power and nuance. At its core is a 1mm, bead-reinforced all-brass shell plated in sleek black nickel, producing aggressive attack with musical overtones that cut through any mix.

MAG Throw-Off Provides Lightning-Fast Adjustments

The MAG throw-off allows for quick, precise adjustments of snare tension with the flick of a lever. Toggle between a tight, focused crack for intricate rhythms or a loose, buzzy rattle for fat backbeats in an instant. With MAG, you'll never miss a beat.

True-Pitch Tuning Keeps You On Pitch

DW's acclaimed True-Pitch tuning system features threaded tension rods that hold tension and prevent detuning over time. Once you've dialed in the perfect pitch, True-Pitch helps it stay there through even the hardest-hitting performances. Consistent, reliable tuning means you can focus on your playing.

DW Reverse Dot Batter Head Delivers Instant Playability

A DW Reverse Dot batter head by Remo comes pre-installed so your Design Series snare is gig-ready right out of the box. The coated single-ply head provides an ideal balance of articulation and warmth and the offset dot focuses the snare response for punchy, articulate rimshots and cross-sticking.

Striking Style Meets Studio-Quality Construction

At 6.5" deep and 14" in diameter, the Design Series snare produces a versatile, full tone that suits any genre. And with pro-level features including a brass shell, MAG throw-off and True-Pitch tuning, its studio-quality construction ensures this striking snare will hold up to years of heavy use.

Snare is great. Everything everyone in the other reviews said is true. Guitar Center's policy of selling floor model, USED equipment as NEW sucks. The snare I received arrived in a Blackstar amp box. The snare side head had several pits under the wires and a few wires are bent as if it had been dropped on something a few times. The batter head was at least replaced before they sent it. Replaced the heads Evans and wires with a Puresound which I planned to do anyway and it's a great snare drum. Just wish I would have received a NEW on like I ordered and paid for instead of a USED floor model. I fully recommend the drum, just buy it somewhere else if you want a new one, or go in-store and make sure you get what you're paying for, or deal with the return process if you have time and patience to wait for another potentially used floor model.

I upgraded from a Pearl Export snare that came with the kit I bought, and it was a great decision. The tuning was a little wonky out of the box, but it was super easy to get in tune, and make the drum really sing. All the parts feel like they are of very high quality, and I think this snare is going to last me a long time. The finish is also quite lovely, so much so I don't even want to touch it. In short, when I think of what a snare should sound like in my head, this is it.

I bought this snare over a year ago and it is great! Always expect great quality from DW and this definitely is. It has a very "poppy" sound and is very responsive. Highly recommend!

This snare is the be all/ end all of tone. It is a brass/metal construction, but.... the overall tones are warm and crack, and punch. I can't believe how this snare sounds compared to my 15 year old DW Collector Series Maple 5.5inch. Recording this thing is total beast mode. It cuts through and you can feel it. You can tune this snare up or down and still have amazing ranges of sound. The price is unbelievable for the product. Dude...... way to go DW!! Thanks GC!!
