Each 3-pack of replacement packets for Planet Waves' Humidipak humidification system is an affordable way to keep your acoustic instrument at its proper relative humidity. The packets last from 2-6 months, so ordering a 3-pack can last you anywhere from half a year to a year-and-a-half.

The patented, two-way Humidipak humidification system (sold separately) is a two-way humidity controller that's recommended by Taylor guitars and other leading manufacturers for maintaining the stability and playability of your instrument. This humidification system maintains 45-50% relative humidity, eliminating all maintenance and guesswork. No more guessing if or when to refill the humidifier and worrying about drips or creating a mess. Unlike other refillable humidifiers, the Humidipak humidity controller acts as a gauge because it provides true two-way, purified humidity control. It adds or reduces moisture as needed to maintain proper relative humidity, which is the ideal climate for wooden instruments such as acoustic guitars.

Just place two packets in the double pouch, place the double pouch over your D and G strings, and let it hang down into the soundhole. Place the third Humidipak replacement packet under your guitar's headstock while in its case. Close the case and you're done. The packet will last anywhere from 2-6 months, depending on the humidity where you instrument is located. When the Humidipak packet becomes firm, discard it and replace it with another Humidipak replacement packet.

I am so over squirting distilled water into dip-it's, etc. Those methods work fine if you've got one or two instruments, and I've read stories of 'leakage' issues online but I've also read stories by people trying to extend the life of the packets through means that are NOT recommended by the manufacturer, so I'm reasonably confident this technology will suffice for my acoustic steel and nylon guitars, along with a dulcimer and ukulele. The first thing to understand is that you still have to monitor your instruments to assess the products condition over time. You can't just toss the packets in the case and throw the instrument under your bed for five months and assume all will be fine. Is this an inexpensive solution? No. But crack repair, premature neck resets, etc are not cheap either. I would appreciate more clarity re: Useful Life of the packets because the description alludes to the packets becoming 'hard' but there is also a stage where the packets feel like the contents have become granularized, and it would be good to know for certain if that represents 'end of life' or if there is remaining utility at that point. Another thing, if you have soft gig bags as I do, you'll go through the packets faster than if your instrument is in a hard case. While I've yet to wrap my gigbags in plastic, I might consider it as we head into the Michigan winter. I also like Oasis products, and have nothing bad to say about them - I just wanted to go with one system for a year to assess effectiveness/ cost. So far I'm happy with the Humidipack system.

I have 4 acoustic guitars that need to be humidified properly. Tried several systems, but this one does the best job. Here's why. When the humidity is too low, it adds. When it's too high, it subtracts. You don't have to fill a little sponge every few days. These packs work in the case, so you have to have your instrument in a hard case. The refills are a little pricey, but sure is a lot less than an expensive guitar repair if yours becomes over or under humidified.

  • Started HuMIDIpack about a month ago. So far so good.

Using a cool mist humidifier in the same room extends life of the HuMIDIpack. I was never concerned about the effects of humidity until I purchased a rather expensive Taylor guitar. Winter in the Rockies combined with forced air heating reduces humidity to 20%. Humidity measured in the guitar case now is above 45%. What a relief to know my guitar is protected.

  • Highly recommend these for your higher end acoustics
