Groundbreaking Mid-Side Stereo

The H2n is the first portable recorder to offer Mid-Side stereo recording, a technique used by audio professionals to capture ambient surroundings. A unidirectional Mid mic focuses on sound directly in front while a bi-directional Side mic captures left and right. Adjust the level of the Side mic to control stereo width—even after recording. For extra versatility, use Mid-Side with the X/Y mics to create stunning 360-degree surround sound.

Familiar X/Y Stereo

The H2n also provides onboard 90° X/Y stereo condenser mics. Arranged with right and left mics on the same axis, X/Y ensures mics remain equidistant from the sound source for natural stereo depth and accurate imaging. Choose 2-Channel or 4-Channel Surround

In Surround mode, the H2n combines its Mid-Side and X/Y mics to capture immersive surround recordings.
