Yamaha HS Series Powered Studio Monitors

Description
Yamaha's revolutionary HS7 nearfield studio monitor delivers Yamaha's signature mix-translation accuracy that audio engineers and producers have relied on for decades. With the inherited legacy of the iconic NS-10s and distinctive white cones, the HS7 provides transparent sonic honesty for professional studios and passionate home producers. The bi-amplified 6.5" cone woofer and 1" dome tweeter are powered by an integrated amplifier perfectly matched to the speaker units for optimized performance. Adjustable room control and high-frequency trim switches allow for custom tailoring to any monitoring environment.
High-performance Speakers for Unparalleled Accuracy
The HS7's elegant white-cone speakers are mounted to a vibration-eliminating system for full sonic potential. The woofer's oversized magnet provides tight, controlled bass response while the tweeter's advanced frame minimizes high-frequency loss for remarkable clarity. The result is smooth, precise audio across the spectrum.
Built-in Bi-amplification for Superior Sound
As powered bi-amplified monitors, the HS7 offers the convenience of not needing external amplifiers while ensuring the amplifiers are optimized for the speaker units. Separate amplifiers for the woofer and tweeter eliminate interaction and passive crossover phase issues, allowing both units to perform at their best for high sonic quality.
Advanced Magnetic Design for Wide, Dynamic Range
The HS7's oversized magnets and advanced magnetic circuit design produce a powerful, uniform magnetic field for exceptionally smooth, wide-range response and dynamic capability.
Room Control and High-Frequency Trim for Optimal Response
With adjustable room control and high trim switches, the HS7 provides versatility for any monitoring environment. The room control compensates for low-end exaggeration from wall or corner placement, while the high trim adjusts high-frequency response. These controls allow for tailored performance no matter the setup.

Simply Amazing
I purchased these monitors after buying a pair of monitors from a different manufacturer. All I can say about the Yamaha HS7 is you'd be missing out if you purchased something else in this price range. These are the caliber of monitors you can just close your eyes, listen, and be wowed. What I like about the monitors: 1. Clarity - Very nice high, mid, and low. Well balanced. The tweeter is very crisp and clear, but not stressful on the ear. The 6.5" woofer produces an accurate and precise sound. 2. Flat - Perfect for mixing tracks that translate well across different platforms 3. Design - Very nice design. The black and white looks very classy. The monitors have large heat sinks on the back. My old set of monitors did not have this and would get very warm. These monitors stay pretty cool. The monitors have a rear port. 4. Room Control - Very useful features to have when setting up your monitors in your mixing environment. 5. Price - Can't go wrong with these at $299.99 each. I actually paid less with Guitar Center's current instant rebate promotion. What I don't like about the monitors: 1. How they've made me realize my old mixes sound terrible. All in all, an excellent decision to go with Yamaha. Love the quality of these monitors and they are the perfect match to my Yamaha HS8 subwoofer.

Don't imply it's 7'' when it's actually 6.5. Both the HS5 and 8's are what they are supposed to be. Why skimp the cone 0.5''?

I've been involved with recording for 30-40 years. I actually listened to the wall of monitors, expecting to really like some of the newer brands. Some were great as a HiFi speaker, but probably not a reference monitor. Yamaha speakers deliver great detail in the highs. The low end was full, without being exaggerated. This was my favorite on the wall. It is also nice that these put out significantly less heat than my older monitors. These will feel warm to the touch, but my old ones were straight up hotplates. Certainly helps keep the room temperature under control!

These things are light years ahead of anything close to this price range. They put every note right in front of you with crystal clarity .Bass, mids, highs all there to a degree that even the best, far more expensive speakers would have a hard time surpassing. I am absolutely satisfied with these and would recommend them or buy another pair in a heart beat!
Awesome sound!
