Roland Kit Example (1) Acoustic drum (SPD-30 V2)

OCTAPAD SPD-30 Expanded Examples (Vol.1)

Description
The Roland Octapad SPD-30 is Roland's powerful drum controller packed with over 670 instruments and 50 kits to unleash your creativity. This next-generation Octapad reinvention provides essential sounds and advanced triggering technology in a road-ready package for demanding performers. With eight large, touch-sensitive pads, an intuitive interface, hi-hat controller and Phrase Loop function, the SPD-30 offers drummers and percussionists a universe of styles at their fingertips.
Vast, Customizable Sound Bank
Unlike its PAD-8 predecessor, the SPD-30 contains its own internal sound bank with 50 kits spanning musical genres. Tune, muffle, adjust attack and pitch sweep the sounds to your liking. The SPD-30 puts a truckload of customizable drum and percussion instruments in one portable unit.
Multi-Effects Mastery
Based on Roland's leading effects technology, the SPD-30's multi-effects engine takes your performances to the next level with 30 types of effects, EQ, limiter and seven ambiance types built in.
Instant Phrase Looping
The Phrase Loop function lets you instantly create layered loops and phrases. Record and store 50 phrases internally, with up to three layers each. Save phrase data to your USB drive.
Advanced Triggering for Flawless Performance
The SPD-30 benefits from Roland's most advanced V-Drum triggering technology. Each isolated pad provides the utmost sensitivity and crosstalk rejection. Connect four dual-trigger inputs and a hi-hat controller to create a mini drum set with external pads and accept triggers from acoustic drums through RT series products.

SPD-30 1 yr review.
I have had my octapad now for about a year. After reading the other reviews on this product; it is clear that they are not all honest. The octapad is well built, the sounds are great and even the reponsiveness of the pads are impressive. However, there were major developement issues with the device that rendered it almost useless in most practical applications. HOWEVER, ROLAND HAS JUST RELEASED AN UPDATE!!!! They call it the SPD-30V2. This is entirely a new insturment now. The sound quality improved, the midi issues were fixed, the looping issues were fix and they added 49 additional kits (most of which sound like accoustic sets vs digital). I am still going through the new bells and whistles. The SPD-30 review = don't waste your money. The product does not work well and there is better stuff out there. The SPD-30V2 review = AWESOME!!!! exactly what I expected initially. May be the best product of it's kind.

Never Will I Buy Another Pad With Roland Name On It
This Company Roland I have no faith in there brand. If you have a product problem email make that your first option just to protect yourself. From what I saw in the poorly package box that a 3rd grader wrapped, Very Very shocked and the power cord was missing out of the box. On top of that it's like plugs you need to buy to make this thing worked that you wouldn't have know until you opened the box. After talking to the guy who sold me this product who from what I see was very apologetic to what happen last night. He took this as a lesson, when a customer is buying a high price package open it up. Just to make sure everything is inside the box, You don't have to take it out but a visual view of whats inside will say you guys money. A business don't make money off returns. Its all about selling a great product straight that comes with now strings attached. Roland You Guys Suck And I'll Never Buy Your Product Again.

I've been wanting to get it for a long time. I love the velocity sensing pads and dual sounds and hi hat support. I'm a keyboard player but I want a more realistic drum sound and style when I'm recording. This will do everything I need.
Awesome!

Once you take your time and read the manual step by step, you learn how easy it is to use. Factory settings are ok but, it needs a lot of tweaking to satisfy ones needs.

Do new SPD-30s come with the SPD-30V2 upgrade? I have read several reviews that say this is a must.
No. The SPD-30V2 is a different model entirely.
