Remo

collapse expand iconDescription

The Remo X14 Coated Drumhead, a 14" drumhead constructed from a single ply of 14-mil polyester film. This durable yet responsive drumhead provides a balanced tone with controlled sustain and volume. Musicians will appreciate its wider midrange tones and formidable punch, as well as its unique feel that improves stick rebound.

Fortified Ply For Superior Durability

The Remo X14 Coated Drumhead is constructed from a single ply of 14-mil polyester film, making it Remo's most durable single-ply drumhead. This fortified ply is able to withstand the impact of aggressive playing styles and heavy-handed drummers. The coated playing surface also provides extra protection, preventing dents and scratches which could otherwise alter the drumhead's tone.

A Coated Surface For Classic Sound

The coated playing surface of the Remo X14 Coated Drumhead produces a warm, rich tone characteristic of vintage drumheads. This coating helps control overtones and provides a focused, rounded attack with balanced sustain. The coating also gives the drumhead a slightly drier tone compared to clear drumheads, making it ideal for drummers looking to capture a retro sound.

Responsive Feel Improves Playability

The Remo X14 Coated Drumhead has a responsive feel that provides extra stick rebound, improving a drummer's speed, control and dynamic range. The coated playing surface has a slightly tacky quality that grabs sticks better than clear drumheads. This responsive feel, combined with the drumhead's formidable tone, makes the Remo X14 Coated Drumhead an excellent choice for drummers focused on playability and performance.

The Perfect Snare Drumhead

With its controlled tone, enhanced stick response and durability, the Remo X14 Coated Drumhead is ideally suited as a snare drumhead. Its 14" size fits most standard snare drums, and the single-ply 14-mil film provides the sensitivity and articulation needed for a snare drum. The Remo X14 Coated Drumhead helps any snare drum deliver a full-bodied, punchy tone that cuts through the mix.

The drum head was perfect, as expected. I would definitely buy this item again from Guitar Center when I'm looking for another drum head

I bought this head for my very heavy 3mm bell bronze snare drum. This bronze snare drum shell really sings and coated Ambassador or Controlled Sound coated are too thin and not a good match for this heavy shell. I was going to try a coated Emperor (7 mil + 7 mil), but figured I'd try out this Ambassador X14 (single-ply 14 mil). Very happy with this X14 head on my bell bronze snare drum.

These heads sounds great with or without mics. Also at all volume levels l'm able to achieve my expected sound. Tuning is easy for Ambassador drum heads, and l get a professional sound on my snares of various woods or metals etc.

  • Try it if you like the standard Ambassador

This is a good drum head, but I thought that due to its thickness it would be somehow different from the standard ambassador. I realized that its not, it's pretty similar.

This is, by far, the best single ply snare head I've used. In my 40 years of drumming, I have played them all(mostly). I used this head with a Pork Pie 14X 6-½ inch cast iron snare, and the results were spectacular. Lively, punchy, and musical; plus toughness, equals a great and versatile tone that I really enjoy. If you enjoy the "Emperor" and "Response 2" type tone on your snare, then this is a good head for you IMHO. You get the Bonham "crack," plus great high-end, and low-end overtones. When tuned at medium to low tones(at least on my snare), you get a livelier "wet" tone than a double ply head would offer. This is a good thing, at least for what I like. A great over all head. I highly recommend this head. I think heavy hitters(except those folks that break a lot of gear) would like this head if tone is your goal.

Bought this to test it out and I am impressed. Remo has done it again! I have it on my Pearl Steel Sensitone, it really fattens up the tone. Dry and controlled dead-center, more of a ringy bite outside of the center to really cut. This is my new favorite snare head.
