The Sapphire is inspired by the Blue Note Era of the 1960’s. It was designed after years of custom work on links from every era. Its design is drawn from the Late Florida Slants and the Early Babbitt pieces. Its floor is higher than a modern Link and its projection and color is greater. It can blow dark and smoky with a rich core and has the power to project and cut through in more straight ahead situations. The Sapphire is never tubby and it is very even through the range of the instrument. With its rich and colorful palate the Phil-Tone Sapphire fills a space like no other.
