How to safely humidify an acoustic guitar by Music Nomad

Description
The Humitar safely and evenly humidifies your acoustic guitar to prevent warping, shrinking, and cracking. The innovative Humitar features MusicNomad's patented Humid-i-Bar sponge, which holds significantly more water than competing products and requires less frequent monitoring and maintenance. Simply open the top, soak the sponge in distilled water, re-inset the sponge into the holder and place it between your guitar strings in the sound hole. The Humitar will do the rest, releasing moisture as needed to keep your guitar in prime playing condition. The Humitar, an easy, no mess way to properly care for your acoustic guitar.
Patented Humid-i-Bar Sponge Means Less Maintenance
The Humitar's innovative Humid-i-Bar sponge can hold more water than competing humidifier sponges, requiring less frequent re-hydration and monitoring. Just pop off the Humitar's lid to check the sponge—if it's still damp, your guitar's humidity levels are maintained. If the sponge is dry, simply remove it, soak it in distilled water and replace it, and the Humitar will continue regulating your guitar's humidity. The Humid-i-Bar sponge's superior water retention means you can spend less time worrying about your guitar and more time playing it.
Even, Controlled Humidity Prevents Damage
Without proper humidity control, an acoustic guitar can warp, dry out and even crack. The Humitar provides an ideal humidity for most acoustic guitars. By slowly releasing moisture through the sound hole, the Humitar humidifies the entire guitar. This helps your guitar maintain its structural integrity and optimal playability, so you get the same full, resonant tone year-round.
Easy to Install and Remove
The Humitar's streamlined design makes it simple to install and remove as needed. Just place the Humitar between the strings over the sound hole, and the strings to secure it in place. When it's time to change the sponge or remove the Humitar, simply lift it out of the holder.

Great humidifier that does what it says
I picked up one of these at my local Guitar Center a few months ago rather than brand I already owned because of the flip cap seemed to be easier to check the sponge. I was amazed at the amount of water this sponge would hold compared to the other brand so that this one stays moist 2-3 times as long as the other. I highly recommend this product!

Poorly Designed
I am currently in Southern California playing shows. It's very, very dry here and my planet waves humidipaks that are only 2 weeks old have dried out completely. So I bought THIS guy because replacing the water in it is a lot less expensive than buying new packs constantly. The gentleman at GC told me that this was definitely better than the back planet waves humidifier that looks quite similar, but here are my complaints: First, it's pretty big. That means that when it's inserted between your D and G string in the sound hole, it's stretching the strings wide apart, putting a lot of tension on your strings and guitar. Fine, so I down tuned those strings. But then after doing this and closing the case, I realized that the height of the lid made it impossibly to close a fitted hardshell case without putting a tremendous amount of pressure on the guitar. No good! It's a shame that these things weren't thought out sooner. The sponge was very absorbent and appears to do a good job of not leaking water, like a shamwow I guess. But this guy definitely won't work for a guitar that you care about.

Super easy to use and seems really nice quality - I like the way it holds water and doesn't drip. Stays wet for a long time. Hopefully its keeping the guitar humid during the dry winter?

I have been humidifier my acoustic guitars for over 35 years now. This Music Nomad sound hole humidifier is br far the best I have used. They hold moisture much longer than the D'Adderio equivalent. I now own 5 of them! If you are looking for a soundhole humidifier get this.

Previously purchased one of these to test out. I'm very happy with it so I bought two more for other guitars. This brand/style is built so much better than the Planet Waves sound hole humidifier and the sponge inside lasts so much longer. Retaining ridge keeps it in place.
Great choice and very useful!

It is in between the strings of my classical guitar. One of the things that you need to watch for is if you get it soaked all the way through, water could seep out through the lowest part of the item. If it seems too full, i turn it upside down and or squeeze it out a bit

will this work on acoustics that are hanging on a wall or standing on a stand. Humidity in the room is around 20% and my guitars aren't kept in cases.
It will, but not to the extent required. these are designed for use with a case. You would need one of the larger humidifiers that control an entire room for a noticeable difference.
