    Mitchell D120

I purchased two of these as gifts for granddaughters. I know acoustic guitars and these are worth every penny. You almost never see edge of body binding or abalone rosettes at this price. I have replaced the original strings with D'Addario's for a fuller sound. And the sound is rich for this price level. The first one I picked in the store up was amazing and set up perfectly. The second one (in a new box yet) needed a neck truss rod twist (action was high) but it also all fell into place. You cannot feel the fret edges at all unlike most guitars at this level. Interior construction (I looked) is a bit sloppy but appears solid. There are splinters left over on the inside bridge backing plate. And the thin backing plate itself doesn't look like it will stand the test of time. But that is my only complaint. Need a first guitar? Go and play one of these.

AVOID BUYING A MITCHELL GUITAR AT ALL COSTS!

My recent experience with a Mitchell guitar purchased from Guitar Center has been nothing short of a nightmare. The breaking point came when, after the neck of the guitar snapped in two due to a design flaw, I reached out to customer service for assistance. Little did I know that this would be the beginning of a frustrating and unproductive ordeal. I strongly advise potential buyers to steer clear of Mitchell guitars at all costs. The combination of poor craftsmanship, design flaws, and abysmal customer service makes this brand a regrettable choice for anyone looking to embark on their guitar-playing journey. Save yourself the frustration and financial loss by considering alternative, more reputable brands for your musical aspiration Mitchell guitars, a Guitar Center brand, appears to be more focused on ripping off unsuspecting beginners than delivering a quality product. This disappointing experience has not only left me without a functional guitar but has also strained my budget to the point where I cannot afford to purchase a replacement.

#sweepstakes. The guitar arrived in great shape. It was also set up and ready to play. The finish is flawless. There were no sharp frets or fret sprouts. One tuned, the guitar sounds great, stays in tune and intonation is spot on. This is my second mitchel and I would buy again.

This instrument is a fantastic deal. I have played three of these and they are consistently good. I own a Taylor but I still love the tone and playability of the Mitchell. The build quality is pretty high on these and the sound beats many other guitars, even costlier ones. The tuners aren't great but that is to be expected on such a cheap instrument. Anyway, I just bought one for a friend and I am sure he will enjoy it.

I bought this at my local GC after trying it in-store. I am a seasoned player who owns a Taylor acoustic and was looking for a guitar to give to a friend. This cheapie Mitchell blew away everything in the store under $700... No lie. The tone is rich and the sound jumps out of the instrument much like the expensive stuff. Even the playability is good straight-away. Very unfortunately, I returned it because I later noticed the Prop. 65 warning about it having polybrominated biphenyls in it, which are toxic and banned in many countries.

I purchased this guitar with store credit from a Washburn I returned that the neck cracked while tuning, kudos to GC for no hassle return. The staff at the Springfield MO store are great. I am a newbie so my evaluation may not mean much but I like the guitar. I think it sounds good and I find it as easy to play as my Squire Strat except I had to get used to the size. A Dreadnaught seems fairly large after playing the Strat. I wish it had a strap button on the neck, it only has 1 button on the bottom. One other thing the day after I bought it I discovered that the high E string had a dead spot around the 9th fret. When I took it back to the store they had their Tech, Rose, look at it and she adjusted the neck and filed down a high fret (no charge thanks GC). Having to go back is why the 4 stars instead of 5. Probably would not be suitable for someone of smaller stature or a child.

I'm unable to find anything on brand but the gauge is a light gauge. Typically 11 or 12's.
